The disabled community is really benefitting from smart home tech, including smart lights. I am super grateful that accessability is becoming main stream. A smart light may seem trivial, but it is life changing for someone who is able to have a little more access to their world. Thanks for the quick run-down.

Why does your lightbulb need access to the internet??

How much kilo Watts do these bulbs use when not in use, if you have to leave the switch on at the wall in order for the bulbs to work over the network.

Brand names are very important but when it comes to smart bulbs, the $10 brand is just as good as the $60.

The Philip one has actual light switches to replace your old ones, and won't interfere with your commands.
Also, this works great on fan lights were you leave them on and now you have a wall switch without doing the whole electrical fan rewiring to a wall switch.

Thanks for the informative video! The video is a few years old, but now, with the emerging Matter standard, for someone like me who is just starting with a smart home, Matter is definitely something to consider. When it comes to smart lights, then a related standard, Thread, is something to watch. "Matter on Thread" is probably the way smart lighting will go forward, for the reasons mentioned in the video (no need for another hub, ease of setup, and reliability). There aren't a lot of smart lights that support that right now, but that will hopefully change over time.

It's 2019, we know how digital assistance works. You can stop using their activation words in videos and setting off my devices.

When you always have the switch on does it use electricity or ruin the wires in the wall or something
