Why I quit full-time music for a 'boring' 9-5 job.

It's been 2 months since I've uploaded a video or made music and there's a reason why. I've been working a "normal job". Life has been strange lately and very cyclical. (Ironic, isn't it?) But I feel I'm circling back to a time where I was living as the normal every day musician who has to deal with the struggle of balancing work life with creative life. This is the next stage of my life and wherever it takes me is where it's meant to be, I believe. If anything, I feel like I'm back on the grind I was when I first started this YouTube channel as a music producer. Making music and creating videos has been my life for the last 10 years but because my income has taken a drastic dip this year I've been forced to go back to working a 9-5. This is a way for me to save for my future and still be able to pay my bills. I'll have to find a good balance between working in the studio on music production, recording songs and working this job but with time I do believe I'll find that balance. So for all those music makers out there who are in the same boat as me now, here's to the grind.

Respect I make music myself I just got my insurance license gonna be selling insurance while I work my job in the medical industry. I love making music but I have to look at what’s best for myself. Hobbies are nice but priorities trumps hobbies

Ahhh, San Diego. My old stomping ground. I was a part time music producer there for over 20 years until I realized that there were cheaper places to live so I moved abroad. Congrats on the new job!

I got a job also brotha. I’m not even putting my stuff out there yet but I definitely plan on it. Been producing for 16 years now. It’s teaching me a valuable lesson in time management and making me realize giving your full attention to music doesnt necessarily equal financial stability. Consistency and work ethic do. Sometimes these jobs give us the necessary drive and push to strive for better. You’re doing exactly what you need to be doing.

Mad inspirational honestly. I’m currently going through a couple of uncomfortable changes as well, but I know my future self, family and creativity will benefit greatly from it. Sending continuous blessings to you and yours on this journey my guy 🫡🫶🏾 I’ll be matching with a project of my own by the end of the year— prolly won’t put it out 😭 but it’ll be done to see if I can commit to something. Much love and stay strong 😌

I admit it is a surprise to see that you play live as well 👍🏾
Most modern producers don't play live much if at all. Congrats on your job! A stable income helps alot so hold on to it for as long as you can 👍🏾

Great vid. You made me think of these two quotes: 1: "Life begins at the end of your comfort zone." 2: "You can always measure what you're letting go of, but you can never measure what you're gonna get." All the best to you. 👊🏻😎

excited for what comes next including the iPad exploration. YT isn’t paying what it should so totally understand the need for a 9-5.
