The Hungarian Folk Tales stem from original folktale collections, every episode has its special authentic ornamentation. The trio of folk art, folk music and folk tales are masterfully combined in the episodes.

Once upon a time a poor widower gets ill and dies – but she cannot leave anything to her daughter. The daughter leaves home to beg, but for no good, nobody gives her anything, they rather send her to work. However, the girl was very lazy – she rather tried to get ahead with her shrewdness. She also tricks the king, who sells his castle to the person who does not bargain a bit. This is how she gets into the castle, which has as many windows as there are days, and it has as many doors as there are weeks, and as many rooms, as there are months. At night she lets in a mysterious big black cat – which she bribes to herself and finds out her secret – as with this cat curious things happen every night.

I had trouble sleeping since I was a kid. Since I grew up without my parents nor any relatives. I had no idea what to do until I found this. I put this on autoplay then lie on my bed. It feels you have a father telling you bed time stories. I ended up falling asleep easily. Thank you. 😊

Because not just one type of person gets to be a hero.

Her flaw was physical laziness, but her strenghts were persistence, negotiation, kindness and curiosity. You could interpret this as a geek dealing with a college, attending class, being introduced to a concept and following where it leads. The concept itself already helped you, but by discovering what exactly it is (e.g. a law of physics) you get to live a better life. If not a single geek, then humanity as an entity dealing with Earth (the king) to pay later. If we're quick and persistent enough in research for science (following the cat), we'll win the race against time (365 days) and be able to trade our findings (the diamonds/crystals) for a better life (the castle). The windows will need to be repaired though (climate change).

I like fairytales when the main character isn't trying, but still have a good ending, it gives me hope that maybe being lazy can still bring me something 😂😂

I love folktales/stories about cats, and this one is very interesting. I like the fact that the castle is the symbolism of a year, with as many windows as there are days in the year, and as many rooms as there are months. I wouldn't mind living in a castle like that.

I like the fact that a black cat is used in this tale, and the clever idea that a diamond leaves the cat's mouth when he visits the last girl. The garden the cat enters is very beautiful garden, and I love this story in general.
