I have a new M1 with Sonoma and i am not seeing the options for doing this. How do i do this on the newest OS ? I accidently deleted all my icons/folders on my desktop because they were stored on the Icloud. I DONT WANT them saving to icloud. I want to store locally on my HD. I cant seem to find a way of doing this. Also after i did this i was NOT able to recover any of the deleted files.

I have even regretted buying a macbook. They have made everything too complicated. My documents on desktop moving to Icloud should have been my own instruction but because Apple only think of profit, they force materials on my desktop to move to the icloud storage without my will so that when it's gets full I will be forced to purchase more icloud storage for their filthy interest.
