i love that so much. it’s easy to get caught up in all these big exciting plans we have for ourselves, but i want my work to speak for itself in the future.

Left my job of 10 years without talking about it widely beforehand for this very reason. I’d been talking about leaving for over a year before I actually made the decision, and those “planning conversations” actually slowed me from making it happen because they felt therapeutic and yes, probably gave me a dopamine rush. When I knew I’d hit the burnout wall, I made my plan and put it into action without a lot of conversations.

I regret telling anyone my plans, they're so damn jealous insecure and scared that you might go above them. They try to demotivate you, don't do the same mistake don't tell your mom siblings or friends trust me.

This is contrary to another popular advice: tell people what you're about to do in order to create a sort of social pressure on yourself. That usually feels good but never was enough to get me accomplishing the tasks.

I’ve avoided telling people my goals because I know that there is such a strong pull back into my normal habits that and if I state my goals, I feel like I would by lying to them and myself. Working on it
