👾 Terraria Rare Items
Rarity in Terraria is a statistic that applies to all items, loosely indicating their value and the difficulty with which they are obtained. An item's Rarity is indicated in-game by the color of its name text, as displayed, for example, when rolling the cursor over the item in an inventory slot. An item's Rarity can be raised or lowered by up to two tiers depending on its Modifier.

the rarest item is wood when you need it

When I played terraria for the first time ever, I got the slime staff within my first ten minutes of playing. honestly thought it was super common

My greatest Terraria story is when I got a slime staff from the fourth slime I killed in the first world I ever made. It is one of my greatest accomplishments in life.

Uh..first pirate invasion I ever did, got a coin gun. Didn’t think it was that good tho bc I was new and didn’t know nearly how rare it was. Still have it in a chest

This is just my top 5 list that I think should be included into this list.
#5. Bass
The 'Bass' Fish is a super rare drop from fishing, and it's also something you have to go out of your way to find. It's not just something you accidentally get from killing the rare mob 'slime's on your way to the crimson.
#4. Torch(es)
The 'Torch' item is a very rare drop from pots, and seeing as there are very few pots in the world you might not get any torches at all from them. You can craft them, although the ingredients are also quite rare. The last option is to buy them, but they are extremely expensive and the NPC you buy them from is also difficult to get into your world.
#3. Wood
'Wood' is found from the rare 'tree's in a Forest Biome. Anyone who plays Terraria knows just how hard it is to find a tree. Once you've found a tree you need an axe to cut it down which is also very rare to find, hard to craft and expensive to buy. Also, there are many things you need to craft with your limited amount of wood, making it very hard to get all the things you need.
#2. Cobweb.
'Cobweb' is a rare material that you can only find underground. To get underground you first need a pickaxe which is very hard to come across. You might be lucky enough to find a cave from the surface, but we all know how rare that it to find as well. Once you get in a cave you then need to find the cobweb which is a whole other journey in itself.
#1. Gel
It's no surprise that 'Gel' is number 1 on this list. Gel comes from the vary rare slime or one of its variants. The enemy is extremely difficult to come across and hard to kill. If you do manage to kill it, you are not guaranteed to get gel from it. You could also find a slime statue, but that requires to go underground. As I mentioned, getting underground is extremely hard as well.
