Golden water strider has some ridiculous conditions, but once set up are rather easy to farm. The golden seahorse on the other hand is a LITERAL hell to spawn despite the easier conditions, and thats because so many other things can spawn under the same conditions, and it has the lowest spawn rate of those things, and quite often will die. If you are on journey mode and get either of them, turn them into a terrarium, research the terrarium, then tos several into the shimmer to get them researched

Edit: No, it’s not the dirtiest block. There is a seed you can find on the wiki where you can get it off of spawn. Even though you and I might think of that as cheating, any item that can be obtained without any effort, even through the use of a set seed, is not rare.

After looking it up the nymph banner only needs 25 while the rune wizard banner needs 10 kills. I didn’t know this while creating this video.

The rune wizard and nymph banners actually don't require 50, their kill count is smaller since they're so rare

What about the golden seahorse, easier conditions but way more painful

Still, you may found it randomly when you travel the surface. The rarest is the golden seahorse, which, despite having easier spawn condition, has so small spawn area that even normal seahorses are very rare.

Dude I'm new to the game and got a nymph like 6 times in a row and didn't think anything of it until I told my friend "bro these nymph things are annoying they keep spawning, he yelled "WHAT" and proceeded to tell me how rare nymphs are and I felt like an idiot that day

For my friend it’s the seedler it took him like 2 days of grinding to get it

terragrim which is a sword shrine drop would take you maby 100-400 shrines to find

In journey mode for me it was very easy to get three of them. The golden critters that took hours and hours to get were the golden mouse and the golden seahorse. Both of them took me over 4 hours to get 3 of them
(You need three critters to research them)

this actually hurts a lot, i once saw one while playing and i was aware of this, but there was one problem, as an endgame mage i had both the nebulous gauntlet and the prism and there was a slime . as you expected, i reacted late and the slime reached the strider before i could.
