Note that 255k is strictly Steam. Adding in the PS5 numbers and its nearly half a million, its absolutely incredible.

Starting to see a trend where “AAA” devs are doing mass layoffs where medium/small studios (Arrowhead/Packet Pair) are making bangers that gamers want, and are now hiring en masse. 🤔

I don't wanna be that guy. But the fact that Helldivers 2 surpassed Halo infinites peak player count is insane. Especially considering Halo is free and not to mention, Xbox's flagship ip. Xbox should be embarrassed lmao

Helldivers is suffering from success at this point, too many players to the point their servers are always overloaded. Hopefully they can increase the player capacity again soon.
Edit: Cap increased to 450000 capped out in 2 minutes.

The thing is it’s not only the gameplay that makes it fun it’s the overall presentation. It’s the ship, the entrance to the planet launching down in the pods with the awesome music playing. Seeing all the other ships and pods launching down. The game really makes you feel like you’re part of a big galactic war.

Last night I also realized what you choose as the name of your ship is actually displayed on the outside of the ship. I thought that was a cool touch that I didn’t expect.

What I'm loving is seeing people playing the role of a newscaster, and update everyone on the battles across the system, and calling for help on the planets losing ground. The battle for Malevon Creek has everyone on the edge of their seats.

It is absolutely possible for the fight to be taken all the way to Super Earth. In the first Helldivers the community could straight up LOSE the Galactic War if players could not successfully defend Super Earth. Towards the end of the game's life, this became more and more common as less people played.

Like you said at 10 minutes, in friday, the 15th, all seemed lost, the defence of Ubanea and meridia were failing horribly due to the suprise attack of the bots, but I and many helldivers saw they left their flank largely undefended, and we charged to take the planets behind them, and with our success, the devs noticed, and it became part of the story that we were able to halt the advance, and now have to defend our new foothold, surrounded on all sides, but they were no longer pushing toward super earth.

I want to see missions where you and more than one enemy faction all hit a planet at the same time. Enemies infighting with each-other and fighting players at the same time. Really make people's neurons fire during the pre-drop phase as they'll have to deal with both enemies at once.

Im so happy this game is so successful, i remember being hyped a week before fanboying to all my friends and showing them trailers, now everyone lnows about the game and it just brings a tear to my eye

IN the first game, Super Earth could be attacked if people left a faction unchecked. It's also possible that the third previous faction may return or an entirely new one will be brought up later down the line. The first game did introduce each faction step-by-step, Bugs being first then the others later so its possible this could be the same case.

One feature I'd love to see is faction generals where each faction can make decisions invade planets and counter attack.

In the first game, the progression of the Galactic map continued on its own, with enemies pushing towards SE if players aren't pushing back, and vice versa. Back in its heyday, it wasn't rare for the fun factions to get played against a lot, eliminated and then you had to play the others. And then the war ended in a result, and players that fought in that war would get a cosmetic set as a reward. (A tattered battle damaged set if Super Earth lost the war, and a ceremonial set if it won). Apparently, in this game, they also have DMs who will adjust things depending on how players are doing. I wonder if that means we could see surprise offensives from a desperate enemy faction.

the difficulty in helldivers is an RNG, you will get missions on high difficulty which will make patrols easy to avoid like you said, but the opposite will happen too, The enemies that will come from the ships also vary a lot, and depending on whether you can deal with them quickly or not, they will only accumulate, another thing is to fight close to places that have enemies, they will be attracted by the noise and explosions, if you have the possibility Exterminating them before moving helps not to accumulate so many. i love the upgrade on the game, i play the first 1 since 2016.
