Why I'm able to study 70+ hours a week and not burn out (how to stay efficient)

Hey all. I don't pull all-nighters. I don't miss the gym for any reason. I don't skip out on four things no matter what. These four essential things help me maintain my focus and efficiency when studying 70+ hours every week in medical school. When I begin my dedicated period to study for the USMLE Step 1 exam I plan to push this number even more to around 80 hours a week.

Here are some of my other videos:

My notes:
1. Get proper sleep (at least 7 hours)
2. Exercise (before studying
3. Separate work, play, sleep areas.
4. Mindset change:
- "thank God I get to study", not "oh God I need to study"
- just focus on the day. One day at a time
- specify what you need to do "I need to study x chapter, x number of pages today...". Schedule a plan time

When you're at a point in life, where you just watch videos of others telling you how to study instead of actually studying.

I’m at the point in my life that I’ve convinced myself that watching other people being productive automatically makes me productive.

I despise the fact that the human brain dopamine system triggers when you see a video about studying, but doesn't when you actually study

For me, when I sleep I forget literally everything that happens the previous day. I read all these studies about how sleep cements things into your brain but for me it just makes them go away. I have very vivid dreams that feel almost like reality, so when I wake up, it feels like my dream was literally the previous day, and the REAL previous day's memories slip into the void.

I've been to med school and I can say that the people who perform best in class are not those who study the longest (like 10 hours+ per day or something).
It's really about talent. The top students are those who don't really study that much, but is able to retain what they have learnt for very long time. They also learn very quickly.

I pulled all nighters and don't recommend them at all. In fact you should NEVER pull an all nighter, it only sets you up to fail.

Glad to be acquainted with you. I am also a 5th year medical student. I come from Vietnam. Compared to other disciplines, the amount of knowledge a medical student has to absorb is a lot, so it is very important to arrange a reasonable timetable for studying. Really admire how you organize your study time.

Another med student here.
I think working for 8 hours a day is ideal:
5 hours for medicine
1 hour for textbooks
1 hour for linguistics
1 hour for reading books
-Of course sleeping 7-8 hrs a day is very important to stay physically and mentally healthy
-Meeting or talking with your friends and relatives
-Having a nice hobby, its better if it is a sport. I used to swim but pools are closed now so I do calisthenics

That's it guys this is what I do everyday. Most important things are working smart and consistently, staying healthy and social. Have a nice day
