Study Less Study Smart: how to study intelligently.

Here are our best tips for how to study effectively, the same ones that we used throughout medical school! The best way to learn and the best way to memorize things is by using active studying, and by avoiding procrastination. You can actually spend less time studying if you study efficiently using this study advice. Prepare yourself for how to study for a test and ace your exams in college or whichever schooling you’re in!

Some students spend hours and hours studying, but see no results, no information retention, and no improvement in their grades. Our goal is to share study strategies that helped us get into and survive medical school. We want to help students everywhere retain information and be productive in studying. Hope this helps!

"Why I'm able to Study Less than You"
You can't study less than me because in the first place, I don't even study

I think everybody's gotta love Active Recall. Just sitting down for around 15mins and typing up everything you know for a topic can really help you understand your weaknesses. Sick video btw

1. Feynmann - no notes, out-loud, word for word
2. Pomodoro - reward yourself
3. Study Schedule - parkinson

I have been binge-watching your videos for a few days now. I'm taking up MLS and currently in my third year. My subjects are more on clinicals now and I find myself studying one chapter for one whole day 😭 it's so exhausting. Thank you for such great tips! I'll really apply them and develop new study habits. Your channel is a lifesaver 💖

Wish I knew about you guys when I was in college! Our son who went to medical school figured out great techniques and graduated at the top of his class.

I love all the tips in this video! I found you guys recently and I think you are great!
I have dealt with burnout a lot and have tried a lot of study strategies, but in the end of the day it is all about trying and figuring out what suits you. I, for one, can't work for 25 minutes only, because I get distracted by the breaks. I mean, by the times I am in the zone completely I already need to take a break. I found out that the best for me is studying for an hour and a half and taking a half an hour break. Because I am able to fully focus on and complete a task for an hour and a half and then have some time to "reward" myself by doing something I enjoy like watching anime or playing a quick game. This cycle I repeat three times or four with a longer break in-between. So I am able to prevent burnout and keep myself motivated and efficient 😄
But if you are just starting on improving your focus and studying 25 minutes could work wonders. Just try stuff out ☺️

Hello! Youtube recommended your channel and i have been binge watching your vids now. I'm a Pharmacy freshie and my classes will start next month. You guys are really explaining things well and briefly that it's easy to understand even if it's your first time watching/hearing the concept. I'll definitely come back for a feedback after I tried out these techniques. Thank you so much for your teachings!! I'll surely do these. I look up to you, Doc. Much love from Philippines xo

This type of mindset is a must for everyone! You can apply it in a lot of areas too besides studying. Thank you for sharing Mike and Matty! Learning new things everyday!

i have a question, if you know there’s a reward waiting for you, doesn’t that make you less focused? as I have ADHD, i tend to space out often, thinking about all sorts of things, and if I set up a reward, i would be thinking all about it… what do you think I should do? (im not fluent in english sorry if this doesn’t make sense!)

The pomodoro technique is not for me. The 1-5 minute break becomes much longer 😅😂

i use the Pomodoro technique but in an indirect way. I just take a break when I'm tired than get back to it. also anki :) probably the most important tool especially if youre in med school

When teaching back I feel like how I teach it will be how I actually remember it from there on out. Like word for word that is how it will forever be in my brain. I might refine it but by the end that’s how it is.
