We were there around 6pm when the shooting happened near the escalator. After hearing a loud bang sound I saw people start to run and hide. Grabbed my 3yo and we hid under our table next to one couple near our table. We stayed there like 15 minutes. Definitely shaken but glad we got home safe🙏🏼

Shame. The Columbia Mall was once a place of sanctuary and one of several safe places that families spent wholesome time together. This is sad to see these kinds of crimes in this community.

Given that the shooter has not been subdued, the community is not safe. The spokesperson couldn’t actually confirm that the victim was targeted - only that it “appears” as such.

I was also at Chick Fill A during the shooting ..We walked past two suspicious, very tall guys wearing ski masks and dark glasses.Our drinks were ready and food was about to be handed to us when we heard loud bangs and it took about 55 seconds for everyone to start running towards us.We ran towards JC penny, fell several times before we exited the mall

I was actually there during the shooting. I was eating chick fil a with my grandma and my sister and my sister saw two guys wearing all black and ski masks/glasses. One was holding a 100 dollar bill and the other was holding a duffel bag. i think there was a gun in the bag. Im not assuming but i just think there was. the shot was very loud. Everyone was screaming, yelling and running. it was a very scary experience and im only 12 :(

So, in a gun free zone, the victim was targeted by a suspect with a gun but if the victim had a gun in a gun free zone he must run away from the suspect with a gun in a gun free zone🤔 wait I think I understand now criminals don't follow the law so victims must suffer. This is a sad state we live in where we are not safe from gun violence because criminals know they will always have a victim no matter where they are. 😢
