A godsend for anyone who films their tv. And an excellent piece of knowledge. You rock!

Thank you for alternating through each of the shutter speeds to illustrate the effects. Complements to the camera operator behind the scenes. Demonstrating the use of the DC lights only was also very insightful. Gratefully.

That is great, I’ve never thought about research about the region to figure out the flickering!

Wow! Been looking for how to avoid banding or flickering while setting up an overhead shoot. I wanted to record a video of me doing something on my phone, but the flicker just won't let the video be great. Little did I know that the power source was the determining factor.
Thanks so much for this video. And thanks for the soundtrack too. It has this "don't worry, cheer up" vibe.

Markus, you're my hero! Now I understand banding and flicker. Thank you!

I can't thank you enough for the fix here. I have watched several videos on this banding in video and no one explains it as well AND shows a fix. Oh and I love the humor!

I greatly appreciate your assistance! I recently acquired a DSLR camera and, in my excitement, I was haphazardly filming the streets of Tokyo at 60fps during the nighttime. Thanks to your valuable insights, I've identified the issue and adjusted both the region setting and frame rate to 50fps. Your video tutorial was incredibly clear and easy to follow, and I'm genuinely grateful for your willingness to share this knowledge!

YOU Markus are a lifesaver! I just bought a Canon Eos M200 as my beginner camera for video production for youtube. I ended up listening to another YouTube on the perfect settings for streaming and had the camera set at 1/125. I set up my new led lights for lighting and have duel monitors running while the camera is set up on a tripod in the center. All of a sudden, when I tried to work on a video last night, I saw a visible flicker after I turned on the 2nd TV. I've been wracking my brain for the last day, trying to figure out what it could be. YOU were spot on! Thanks for being out here and doing the things you do!

I bought me a fancy mirrorless to use as camera for streaming, I thought my key lights were the problem. This video has saved me much headache, thank you.

I’ve struggled finding info on these issues that have real time examples and comparisons of the problem. This video was great to show the progression of issues and solutions clearly. The one specific thing mentioned here Ive never seen or read is how a FACTOR of a countries respective frequency can be another option. So 1/60 OR 1/120 in the states can help, but not 1/240. It this nuanced tip that’s missing from so many articles out there, that usually just generically say to lower your shutter speed with little to no context. Thanks so much for this video!

This is an older video I know but it did help, thank you.
The issue is, I am getting a slight banding effect when shooting product review videos. I mainly notice it when I do cuts during editing. Of course that brought my attention to the darker areas of my background and once I saw it, it was like a sore thumb, can't help but see it now. I do have a LED light mounted on the AC vent cover but after watching your video here, I think I will try plugging that light into a DC power box. Can't use it for camping right now (105f in Texas) so I might as well use it to power my light. Hopefully that helps. Thank you for all you do for us not so smart folks.

Thanks Markus! I only have this problem with my Osmo Action Cam. It has a flicker setting at 50 or 60 but it doesn’t help. I will see if I can adjust the shutter speed so when I am filming my digital temperature probes I don’t have that annoying flickering!! You always seem to post a video at about the same time I run into a new problem with new gear!! Awesome job man!!

I almost sent my Sony ZV-E10 back because of this. I decided to keep it since I didn’t notice in photos and it was intermittent in video. Glad I found this video. Problem solved. Thanks!

thank you Markus, very well explained and as I live in the UK, I tried your 1/50 and 1/100th sec and it really worked. I was really getting concerned about this issue.. on my A7III, mechanical shutter works fine with electronic f c ON. so no issues with that, I suddenly realized this with Silent shutter.
