WASHINGTON, D.C. — Kepler-452b, a planet located 1,400 light-years away from Earth, was announced on Thursday as the most Earth-like planet ever found by NASA, which is naming it 'Earth 2.0'.

The exoplanet Kepler-452b orbits around a G-star similar to our sun every 385-days in the constellation Cygnus. It is five percent farther away from its sun than Earth is to our sun, but receives the same amount of sunshine, as its sun is 10 percent larger, NASA said in the press conference.

NASA believes the exoplanet is five times more massive than Earth, with a rocky surface and a thicker atmosphere, while gravity would be about twice as strong on Kepler-452b than it is on Earth.

This is the 1,030th planet confirmed by the Kepler Space Telescope, according to NASA. The telescope will continue its mission of finding 'Goldilocks planets' — planets that are not too cold nor too hot for liquid water to form.

NASA plans to carry out a spectroscopic analysis of Kepler-452b to gain a better understanding of its atmosphere.

Born too late to discover the world, born too early to discover the galaxy.

In the constellation of Cygnus, there lurks a mysterious, invisible force: the black hole of Cygnus X-1... Six Stars of the Northern Cross In mourning for their sister's loss In a final flash of glory Nevermore to grace the night...

Hmm, if it were possible to reach there in the safest way possible and nothing harmful was on it I would want to live there :D

Oh god I'd weight 400 pounds on Kepler-452B. The good news is after a week on Kepler-452B, returning to Earth would make you feel like you were floating lol.

Why does this matter? Great discovery but we'll never be able to go there. 😬

Guys, "1400 light years away" means that, even if we had a spaceship that traveled at the speed of light, it would still take 1400 years to get there.  And thus far, the fastest spacecraft ever invented topped out at around 0.013% the speed of light.  So we're talking millions of years of travel to get there with current technology.  Don't book your reservations just yet.
