Our school gave us expired vitamin water for free just bc they needed to get rid of it lol I took one sip looked at the date and said nope not drinking this anymore and this is a true story lmao

Most "expiration dates" are very vague guidelines. A vitamin drink that's 6months expired would NOT make anyone sick. I work in a food bank and we accept food that is 1 year "expired" because almost anything that doesn't include dairy products will not spoil within 1 year of the date.

5months really ain't a big deal if it's been on a shelf. And not moving back and forth with temperatures. Companies have to give you a sooner date to avoid lawsuits but most things as long as it's closed and stored properly it can last for up to a year if not several especially canned foods. If it was bad the temp probably got rapidly changed on it lol
