I genuinely think I am one in my team... because I'm the only one who understands frontend, backend and infra to the point where, whenever some change is needed, I can by myself handle all 3 in 1 day, while the others spend 1 week on just explaining the problem to each other. And I still do the test automation and all and really not much stuff comes back to me from QA...

I work with a 10x'r, he is a beast. Smashes out code, very few, if any, defects. Even started to incorporate the users perspective into the feature delivery. He didn't at first, so sometimes you'd get a good feature but the UX wasn't optimised. I feel bad for his peers. His anomalous productivity makes estimating work really difficult. It literally comes down to, oh he's off for a week we need to add 50% to this estimate.

There are so many developers where it's easy to be as productive as 10 or even 100 if them. It all depends on what you use as baseline. I think not using Jira is actually necessary to become 10x 😉

10x dev is who gets to keep the focus (laser focused one task at a time), thinks clear for future (clean, maintainable and easily understandable by many code), high quality code that is processor and user friendly at runtime, and produces code that is aligned to requirements well (covers all test scenarios through various test mechanisms and ensure logic support all possible edge cases). Howzat!

Note I didn’t mention number of lines of code. If you want help and want to progress, help/teach others, do great documentation, play the team. That’s being a great leader!
