10x programers are 100% a thing. if you dont believe it you either never met one or are insecure, or both.

The 10x does exist, I've seen one, but boy am I not one of them. He wrote a 3d game engine supporting original Warcraft 3 assets, with a map editor, so he could build a TD game. Solo, because he'd ask his groupmembers to help, but they were "too slow" so he'd do it himself anyway.

I don't know what he does now, but... he was real. He existed. He was there for a semester as an exchange student and then I never saw him again.

You know being a 10x involves not being bothered by everyone every 10 seconds.
There is such a thing maybe you never seen it but imagine if you will a person who troubleshooting issues, fixing issues, customer relations, customer management, developer management, resources management, management management, research and development, IT support, infrastructure security all in one.

Tbh I feel like there is some truth to this word. For example my friend knows how to search for a solution when he faces a problem, and does it way faster than I do. Me in the other hand I might take days trying to solve one problem. Of course it's not like he does 10 programmers' work on his own but he's just more efficient. I know problems differ in difficulty but in this example the problems weren't difficult at all.

It's a thing, but very rare. Notch is a great example of a 10x ( if not a 1000x ) programmer.

You might want to read Peopleware, where the authors used scientific studies that showed that the best programmers were up to twenty (20) times more productive than the average programmer.

A 10x programmer: programmer who delivers 10x the values while being paid the same if not less. A nice thing companies say to overwork programmers without the adequate pay. Just like a full stack developer who, according to companies, should know every single technology in a field and have experience with everything, so they can pay them just like any other regular programmer, just to complain about how they don't have any applications even tho the pay is "industry average"

I meant a guy like this in college. He was in his 20s bc he already know how to code when he was a kid. He was banned in coding competitions bc he was too good. It was easy money for him. He probably makin a six figured job

Big disagree, 10x is actually very conservative since there's no way a team of 10 juniors could ever compete with an experienced programmer.
10 beginner artists can't make a masterpiece if they work together, it's just common sense!

10x programmer is not a myth it is just an overused term and they are very rare but you recognize them once you see one. But yeah focusing on becoming a better team player is better for everyone
