Actually the ability to walk the pixel of ground that chest is placed on was actually a bug that came with the Redstone update when they added Redstone chests

You know I learned something cool about mob spawners Jordan! So when I was re-watching a Ranboo stream, I knew when he picked up a mob spawner that was either one of two things. It was either a mod or he found some sort of glitch. So after figuring out what enchants Ranboo had on his armor, it turns out in Java (and sadly only Java) you can put the silk touch enchantment on a chestplate, which means you can pick up a mob spawner or a grass block etc.!
