Our family owns a gutter company and I highly recommend doing this. However if possible, id go with pvc. It's a lot steadier when it comes to unclogging it

You can also get a 45° that prevents having to bend the corrugated up to fit the downspout 👌

In New England, we go 10 feet away from foundations if possible.

Yes, I have them on all my downspouts, however, I’m in a new subdivision and the trees are small. If you’re in a area where leaves get into the gutters you need leave deflectors, screens, etc. on your gutters. The purpose of keeping the water away from your foundations or slab, is to prevent erosion damage or flooding in crawl space or basement. My shortest piping from my downspout is 15’. All mine are run to an area where the water will drain naturally away from the house. Thanks…Jim

For someone who used the black corrugated black pipe, don’t! It easily crushes over time and it’s only benefit is ease of use over long term durability.

So corrugated is okay however I highly recommend getting some three or four inch triple wall PVC pipe. It has a lot better crush resistance. Don't get plumbing pipe or schedule 40 it's too expensive. You'll need to find the appropriate fittings and downspout adapters but typically you'll only need one 90 degree bend and one downspout adapter / downspout.

Hypothetically. Is it possible to bring the ground almost all the way up to your porch level, If it's graded?

I don't like the looks of the black pipe so I use PVC until the pipe is below ground. But it does work which I guess is the point.

If you connect to a basin you can reuse the rain water for irrigation or gray water

You should collect the water in a tank and use it for something good, watering lawn, toilet flush etc.

I've seen those Contraptions brought down south from up North and completely make an entire side of the house gutters fall off because they got clogged up underground.
