Tesla Model S Door Handle Repair...without removing it

Tesla Model S door handle stop releasing the latch? This is usually fixable without removing the handle assembly from the door. All you need are some soldering skills and basic tools.

This video walks through the process of repairing a broken wire on a 2013 Tesla Model S rear right door handle micro-switch.

The switch part number is Panasonic ASQ10418 and I purchased 4x from DigiKey for ~$20 in February 2020.

Well, you saved yourself a nice hunk of cash doing that repair. A wire breaking in that area is a rediculous design flaw.

Automation in these mundane tasks is supposed to be a feature and not something doomed for failure.
It's one of the reasons I didn't purchase an S model but went with a long range 3 instead and love it.
I'm pretty sure the door handles on the new S will be bulletproof, whenever that gets released.

Why make a door handle so complicated? To make it reliable, always use fewer parts!

Was this due to handles not auto presenting? 3/4 of mine won’t auto present I have to touch the 1 door handle that does work to get them to pop out. Will this fix that issue? Tesla wants $1300 to replace them.

Honestly it’s easier to just take the handle off and repair it on a desk. You were 85% of the way there already lol. Still, thanks for the video.
