The Missing Bible Size in the Premium Market - The 'Goldilocks' Size

Various reviewers and people in Facebook groups have discussed the desire for a size Bible which I term the "Goldilocks" size Bible because it is "just right." This video explains the concept and the case for premium Bible publishers, such as Schuyler, Cambridge, Allan, Nelson, Zondervan, etc. to produce more of this size Bible.

The Cambridge Concord and Allan 52 Longprimer are good examples of about the perfect size (Allan's ESV1 too). But many translations lack choices in a premium Bible of this size.

As a bonus, I answer David Lee Brown's question about the pronunciation of cognac, the color of his new Bible's liner.

Dude! Thank you. I tried multiple pronunciations for cognac, and none of them hit the mark—you’re my hero.

Yep, we need this size!! The Treveris, as you mentioned, is this perfect size, but the text layout is definitely not for everyone. Anyway, great video 👍

I’ve also been saying for years that we need more midsize premium Bibles! The Goldilocks size for me is 8 to 8.5 inches tall and 5 to 5.5 inches wide. The font size needs to be 9-10. The Allan ESV1 is almost the perfect size. I can’t wait for Schuyler to make a mid size Quentel one day.

I agree there is a missing size - would love for Schuyler to fulfill that with a mid size quentel.

What a blessing we have to have a choice between covers, translations, sizes, colors and study helps. Do we truly appreciate it. How many are there in the world that wants a Bible and none are available.

We definitely need more Bibles that size

The Clarion is nearly perfect. I wish it were just a little taller and thinner, but the layout is great and it fits easily in the hand.

My ESV1 is the perfect “Goldilocks “ size. I just prefer the NASB95. I would invest in one in that perfect size without hesitation! Great video

I absolutely agree with you Tim! There is definitely a perfect missing size. When I received my wide-margin Schuyler Quentel, I could hardly lift it out of the box. It sits on my desk for my in-depth Bible studies, and I don’t move it much. A hefty 4 lb Bible, with a great size font. I want the Goldilocks size with a good size font. These old eyes can’t take the 7 point size! But, I am definitely with you! Happy 4th! 🎆🎇🇺🇸

The concord is the perfect size. I just wish they would make it in different translations!

YES! Your comments here hit the nail on the head. The perfect goldilocks format in my opinion is taking the Wide Margin Quentel, removing the margins, and printing it on 28gsm paper. The Wide Margin Quentel double column, references and text size is the perfect "one size" for me. I recently got a Thomas Nelson NKJV Single Column Reference and that is really really close, though it is a little thick and I prefer double column ideally.

I'm very happy with my Cambridge Turquoise edition, just a tip for anyone looking for something slightly larger but easy enough to lug around!

I think the heirloom thinline is just about perfect by crossway. Can’t wait for the re release of the Netherlands version this year

Great video! I completely agree. I have too many big Bibles now. I'd like to see more "Concord" size Bibles in other translations. Also, I think it's awesome that you and David don't know how to pronounce Cognac (Cone-Yak) 🙂 Good on you both for your clean-living!

I certainly agree with this analysis! We need more Bibles in test size that can serve as an all- around Bible. I envision that the "just right' size Bible would be a NASB 1995 edition Bible, single column paragraph format similar to the Clarion reference from Cambridge, but with a larger font (10-10.5 comfort print), and measuring around 8.5 x 6.5 x 1.5 with either a nice black calfskin or goatskin cover.

My TBS Windsor is a perfect size. I can still read the print size yet I can carry in my bag

I completely agree with you. I can't really afford that right now though. I've been trying to learn how to rebind Bibles

The Cambridge large print text Bible is also an optimum size.
