I think this is true, within reason. Some people also genuinely want to be more private with their feelings, not so that they can flirt with other girls but so that they have time to work things out between the two of them without nosy, prying people. Gossip can be brutal. Some men are also more naturally introverted and don’t tell everyone everything, but will be open with family, mentors, etc. So long as he is not actively hiding the gal away from everybody important in his life or acting single when she’s not around, he may just be more reserved/protective of their feelings. Just be attentive.

Mark is speaking the Truth here. If you want an literary example, go read Troilus and Crisyde by Chaucer. The book is basically a satire on Courtly Love and how. Everything. GOes. WRONG. Oh? The part about secrecy? The couple get broken up because nobody knew they were a couple so why wouldn't they return the girl to her dad? There is nothing to tie her here, right? Right dear prince of Troy?

Okay, there was so much wrong in Chaucer's interpretation of that relationship, but getting publicly married would have pretty much solved all their problems. But nope, had to hid their relationship (and fornication) in the night even though everyone would have been fine with them getting married.

There could also be another reason - like the man's wife passed away a few months ago and he has been told by friends that public pursuit of a woman could be perceived as (whatever), even though the man's grieving is long since over.

Stop inventing bible content. There is no “biblical pursuit “ in the Bible. Pursuing puts you in the position of following, by definition. You don’t know what leadership is. You are doing much harm with your poor advice.
