Ok, I am officially going to stop complaining about my fine lines and wrinkles. Talk about putting petty things into perspective!! God bless these doctors!

I went to school with someone with Neurofibromatosis, half of her face was taken over by it and she had a hanging tumor to, she was a lovely girl, went through school from 5 or 6 years old, up to college at 17-18, I think college was the only time she was ever bullied about it, but the few of us that were at school with her and the couple of new friends she made, we stood up to her bullies, who were girls on the same course as we were, but the tutors never did anything about the bullies, which was disappointing for an establishment that claimed to be zero tolerance on bullying!!

So often, there is no money to treat the condition before it grows to this scale. Many doctors dismiss patients when it's smaller. Unfortunately, the patient and family lose hope. The patient ends up becoming a social media sensation and doctors step up to help. Doctors are always willing to give of themselves and time at no charge. Hospital administrators and insurance companies do not think the same way.

This man is a similar case to Joseph (John) Merrick, "The Elephant Man." It is thought Joseph had Neurofibromitosis and Proteus syndrome

I live right here in the USA and there was a man in my neighborhood who had either neurofibromatosis or something like that, because he had a mass attached just below his eye than hung down past his collarbone. I'll bet you anything that what caused him to delay getting treatment for it was the cost of healthcare in this godforsaken country.

I didn't see him for several years, but then he moved into my building... and the growth was gone, but _so was his eye._ He died shortly thereafter.

We need universal healthcare, like every other industrialized nation has.

Poor man. I hope that he will get more help and more surgeries in the future so he could at least lead a relatively comfortable life.

I hope this man is safe in whatever surgery he will undergo and that more people and doctors will help him diligently.

The lower income Americans couldn't have this fixed. So being lucky enough to live there means nothing to most.
