August Auto lock is not tied at all to the proximity of your phone like stated in this video, only unlock. The auto lock doesn't care were you are. I.E. it will lock you out with your phone in the house. Auto lock is simply time based, anywhere from immediately to 30 minutes later, that's the only lock options.

I seem to be having trouble understanding something....I currently have doorknob that locks and a separate deadbolt. Do people leave the doorknob unlocked or what? If I install a smart Lock I'd still have to get keys out for doorknob. What am I missing?

I think the door upon which the lock devices is very important. While the Samsung is by far the more attractive, I have yet to see one where the door interfacing hardware looks even remotely like those we see in the USA in homes. This is a major "buyer beware."
