Love the encode plus, we use it for the garage door and front door. The camelot bronze matches well with our brown front door and century brushed nickel fits the garage setting nicely. My favorite part is that it meshes well with everything from our ring security to Siri voice commands for homekit.

Schlage Zwave!!!! I've used the locks since ST version1 hub. Now they have Schlage Zwave Plus. Thankyou Reed for this video.

4:50 for most fingerprint scanners I always add an extra setup with my finger wet.

Hi Reed, long time follower first time commenter Another aspect that I think was not touched on is the auto lock features. I love the auto locking of the door when I swing the door shut on our Aqara U100 with it’s door close detection. It’s not something I thought I needed but would miss it now if the feature was to be taken from me, it’s that convenient. Walking in with bags in hands and gently kicking the door shut and it locks for you is priceless. Automate everything!

Hi Reed, great videos. The only aspect I feel you left out was if the locks can auto open with bluetooth. This is the killer feature for me of the August Smart Lock. I love coming home with groceries and the door just magically opens, no need to touch keys. I do agree with you that the keypad is not good.

I would be interested how much security these devices offer vs a similarly priced actually high security door lock with a key. I think the door locks main objective is security.

I have the assure 2 lock and I LOVE it. I ended up getting the Wi-Fi bridge for around $70 on Amazon. I love how quiet it is. I had the august smart lock initially and it’s so noisy it’s unbelievable!

I think in the future you should include if the key cylinder can be replaced or not. Most companies make one of a few standard sized cylinders, and some of these keys are MUCH more secure than the bog basic cylinder they come with. None of these extra features mean jack if a semi-experienced lockpicker can open them in just a matter of seconds.

I live in an area that sees -40 in winters and that Schlage Connect works like a charm.

Thanks for this review, Reed. I've had both the Schlage Encode and the U-Tec Ultraloq. The Schlage has never failed me. Easy to use and set up. I really have no need for remote unlocking as I don't give access to my house without me or family being there. This time i wanted a lock with a fingerprint sensor and purchased the Ultraloq and the hub bcuz the lock couldn't connect to my wifi without it. The fingerprint sensor has failed me and my family many times and now its finally not working. We just use PINs now. Notifications also work sometimes but unreliable. Going back to Schlage and never looking at U-Tec again.

I have my 2 Aqara U100’s added to Home Assistant through Matter, and they’ve been solid! Glad I got two on lockdown ;)

What we need is a Matter over Thread smart lock which works with Home Assistant without any cloud dependencies/third party apps.

Last year I installed some new Baldwin locksets on my house. Internally, they are identical to the Quickset locks that you reviewed. The shiny parts are what is different and what make them so much more expensive. They are gorgeous though. I mostly agree with your comments with a few exceptions.
They are noisy
The key is a great feature if your batteries go dead while you are locked out. The key mechanism can make it a brain scratcher to get it working correctly, It needs to be mechanically aligned with the motor drive and is not explained well in the manual.
The two extra digits when unlocking (spreads out the finger prints) don't bother me as I usually unlock and disarm with my phone using Honeywell Total Connect.
The small screws that hold on the inside cover are optional (RTFM). If you install them, no one can easily mess with the lock settings. You would also need to remove them when changing batteries. I left mine out.
These locks are my favorite Home Automation feature. When I go out and turn on the alarm (with my phone), all of the doors are locked. When I disarm the alarm, the back door is unlocked. I almost never user the keypad or keys.

Can you set up HomeKey to require FaceID authentication before opening?

I hate the idea if someone stealing my phone or watch and being able to open the door with them. Ugh.

Any chance you would review the Level lock plus and its keypad?

I have 3 of the Ultraloqs and your assessment matches my experience. The lock itself is great, but the fingerprint reader is not very good. Adding several copies of your thumb helps if you're very consistent with what part you press.

One thing you weren't able to notice since you onlt have one device: Adding multiple users to multiple locks is a pain - each user needs to be added to each lock individually.

All that said, I do like the lock, I just wish the fingerprint reader were better.

The Aqara lock is hands down the best lock I’ve used.

Eufy seems too popular to not include in this review.
