Great video.
I've had two of the Yale Conexis locks over about 6 years now. As mentioned the app is rubbish. On the occasions I've needed to use it to open the door (when I've got my phone but no card/tag) the app is always signed out and I end up spending ages normally in the rain signing in before being able to open the door. Additionally, to share a digital key within the app with a guest, you have to buy each virtual key.

The only plus I've found is B&Q seem to always sell packets of Cards or Tags or Stickers in their regular sales for a few pounds meaning I've got a few packs of each in storage to give out to house guests that I can just wipe when they fail to return them.

My Yale Keyfree is dying on me and the new yale ones don't have a number pad which is the most convenient thing in the world. Your videos have helped me so much as there is not much information online about these types of locks. Thank you so much

I have since bought a new fingerprint lock and it's superb...

I have the simpled installed and rate it very highly. The app is brilliant and works without issues. I do find the fingerprint (like most other units) is temperamental when it's raining or your finger is wet. No problem though, still have the card and PIN pad. 😊😊

One feature that I like about the Simpled lock is the fact that if you simply shut the door, it is locked from the outside (although I appreciate you should lift the handle for full security). Do any other smart locks offer this facility?

I have used a V1 Nuke since the initial product launch and I must say its a somewhat frustrating experience.

While Nuke has "support" for multipoint locks in the software it doesn't really address the issue of accidentally not lifting the handle. Frequently other family members or visitors will forget to lift the handle which can result in the auto locking failing into a "jammed" or "motor blocked" status - this results in having to cycle the lock and usually recalibrating it. What a pain. It doesn't help that my door has quite a strong swing back when you lift the handle; so if you let go at the top of the lift it will ever so slightly move the multipoint mechanism such that you can not lock the door - you have to gently lower the handle...

I have reached out to Niki multiple times regarding the software support for multilocks with no fixes in sight for these frustrating issues. I would much rather that instead of "jammed" status the lock just ignores the locking failure (after logging) and resumes into the "unlocked" state until the next door open/close event. Perhaps there has been hardware changes in subsequent versions that mitigate the way it fails upon being unable to complete a lock cycle but I am loathe to "upgrade" at significant cost only to find it has the same problem.

I would buy a new door if someone would offer a powered HomeKit compatible multipoint system that can wholly lock itself.

I have the conexis l1 on two doors as that was the only option at the time. I also have the zwave modules. Installation was fine. The app is abysmal, as is connectivity. The bridge is way too expensive considering you need one for each lock.

Because of my suspicion of tech I would only ever fit a smart lock to my apartment door that allows entry to be gained using a key. In fact Yale don’t recommend fitting their conexis lock to apartments for this reason

Very helpful video. Do you know of a keypad lock that doesn't have any wifi/bluetooth/app? Just a keypad lock.

I've been following the develop of smart locks for years and have nearly pulled the trigger many times but there's always something missing. Personally, I'd like HomeKit and now HomeKey support but the biggest drawback is the lack of a solution for pushing up the handle. If I need to lock the door remotely (either because I've forgotten to lock it, or because I've had to remotely unlock it for some reason) there's a good chance that the handle hasn't been pulled up. I know it can take a bit of physical effort and would require a decent power source but surely it can't be technically impossible.

Do you know Mark the current status of the Loqed company? Are they trading in the UK?

Hi Mark, thank you for the very informative video.
I spoke to a locksmith as I was considering the Yale conexis L2. He strongly dissuaded me saying that damp gets in and it will stop working in 3 months. Having seen your video, I am tempted to get the ultion nuki plus. Would this withstand the weather better?
Thanks

You are technically right but also wrong regarding the Yale lock. You can either have a yale midule or the Z-wave misule both require a bridge but Z-wave is an open platform and this wirks with apple homekit so in a way they do offer homekit connectivity. The L2 comes as standard with the tale module but the L1 comes with non but you can add the Z-wave module (Yale sells these)

Hi Mark thanks for your videos. The Nuki Pro 4 lock cannot be purchased with the cover that extends up to the handle like the Nuki Plus. Is it not compatible?

Hi, is the Locks touch discontinued, I can't find it anywhere?

@MarksTechVlogs You mention that your own front door requires that additional key turn/click and pushing the handle down to open from the outside, do all these products manage that part okay?

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the video
I have Conexis L1 smart lock and I want to replace it with another one.
As far as I can tell, Simpled is the only lock that can offer a "remote lock" feature. Am I right?

Bottom line Mark. What is the lock system you would use if you were not a reviewer?
