Neo is Deaf because of Me…
As you know our son was born with severe to profound hearing loss. Since he was born we always wondered about the cause of his hearing loss. So we decided to follow the doctors advice and get genetic testing for the whole family because this can give us better knowledge on why our son was born Deaf. Luckily with technology being so advanced and hearing aids not giving him enough for proper speech and language, we were able to get him cochlear implants. And now he is getting all caught up with his spoken language, and yes he still know ASL / Sign language. Neo: three-years old, knows the sign language, master the alphabet in both sign and verbal language (2.12 to 2.22), do simple math like counting, have the good sense of humor, have the good manner, clearly signifies his both IQ and EQ are above average. He is smart, much smarter than many other boy at his age. He is a polyglot in a way with him mastering sign and verbal language. He is adorable, with him sometimes being cheeky. By and large, i would like to say he is special, and special kids are for special parents.

There is no need to blame anyone genetic wise for it is given. But being aware of it are indeed helpful to enable having the right decisions, responses, and mitigation, but not to find some kind of culprit. There is no cpijcidence in life, things happen for reasons, whatever the reasons just trust they are good reasons.

As for Abella re cancer carrier, from a very personal point of view, i would say take it easy, be in peace with it, and adopt a healthy life style, such as go organic, natural and stay from junk food, and...stay away from stress. The junk food thing...tbh.. sometimes i can't help the temptation...but once in a blue moon should be ok.

So, Niko and Chrysthal, if i may offer any magic phrase, it would be: "don't worry, be happy, stay healthy and enjoy your life."

Audiologist here :) One thing a parent told me that has always stuck with me is, “Having a deaf child and watching them grow and learn lets you a experience a level of pride and joy that other parents simply don’t have the privlege of understanding.” Every time one of my Deaf/HOH pediatric patients learns a new word or sign, it is just the most precious and exciting feeling, and SO joyful. Also I’ve found from age 3-4 there is a HUGE language boost so get ready for your sweet baby to rock your world with all of his language development! ❤❤❤

I am a mom of 2 profoundly deaf children now adults age 24 & 31. I had all the same questions and doubts you have, what will the future hold? I can tell you that both of mine are in professional careers & doing great. Yes they’ve had their ups and downs in the hearing world. Having the right support, security & love has helped a lot. You two are doing a great job. Keep questioning keep asking for support, keep the stimulation going. Neo is on the right path to being the super human he is.

I work with Deaf children, supporting them in a mainstream primary school. It makes me so happy to see how you are constantly giving Neo oral and signing input. You make learning fun for him and in each video, I can see how much he is developing. You are incredible parents and an amazing family (including his fantastically supporting and encouraging sister) who are doing everything you can to raise a confident boy who's deafness will just be a part of him and not hold him back. Your children are very lucky!

I don't know why, I watched the part where Neo was spelling "turtles" at least a hundred times. Its is soo fulfilling to see how smart he is. I am pretty sure he is far ahead ( learning wise ) of so many 3 year olds including the ones who do not require special care. You guys are doing a great job.

Genetic testing is so important, so future generations have knowledge about the possibilities of many problems. Thankfully I know about several inherited health problems going several generations back. Many people don't have that knowledge. If it's possible, do get tested.
