I love that this is the only time Sweeney calls her "my love" and not "my pet". Poetic as hell

2:20 "Could THAT THING have cared for you like me?" She knew she had crossed the line. She immediately backed up! 🤣

4:28 The way he lifts his head, knowing that he’s soon to be killed. He knew it was going to happen all along, especially in the line “We all deserve to die.” He embraced death and all its beauty; I just know that I will never understand how much it hurt. Not only physically but mentally

god, this really is one of the BEST stage to film adaptations ive ever seen. the whole team really understood the play and were all on the same page. the whole thing feels very cohesive and it does the stage version justice.

I saw a comment once saying Todd knew Toby was behind him ready to kill him, that’s why he suddenly stopped singing and raised his head, Sweeney knew even if Lucy was still alive he wouldn’t have been able to live a normal life, maybe in time but idk. Also it’s just sad that Toby never got to know Sweeney’s true intentions but he found out too much fucked up shit that left him no choice but end Todd.

It's disturbing just how beautiful Sweeny Todd s death is.

This is absolutely terrifying. You can see her face being singed and the hair get ripped right off her head as she gets thrown in. But most of all, the screams of pain and her face of betrayal and hopelessness really make it that much more disturbing. When she gets thrown in, she clearly screams no multiple times. She’s so hopelessly infatuated with him that even though she knew it wasn’t possible and wasn’t what was happening, she held on to the part of her that believed he really forgave her and ignored her instincts that he was going to kill her. You can see her eyes light up just as they approach the fire, as if she’s blissfully choosing to be unaware of what is about to happen, even if she already knows he is incapable or forgiving her.

2:24 can we talk about this? He reprises the "a little priest" line and it's so chilling and amazing and his raspy voice at "REALLY LIVING IT" 3:00 is SO good I love this part

I wish Tim Burton would do another R rated dark gothic film like this. This is still his best film to me.

Edit: And I normally HATE musicals. This is one of the very very few I love.

On the bright side, Johanna and Anthony are finally free from the Judge's tyranny.

One of the greatest villans that Johnny ever played

I love the quick, sort of eyes narrowed, squinted glare Johnny does to put emphasis on his words when his character is angry. I've seen it in his work a couple different times but never realized he did it until I saw it here @2:30 on "as you've said repeatedly". I wonder if he naturally does that when he's angry and it carries over, or it's something he learned to do on purpose? Fun.
