The old man who fled cartel to save his sons is a good man. Has a lot of reasons to be frustrated and project his anger on others but still says he’s happy for Ukrainian refugees even though him and others like him live in perpetual uncertainty

As a Mexican this situation does not surprise me at all! I’ve been seeing it all my life!

I have to give credit to Vice news for even following the Russians even though no press was allowed another show of brave journalism

The double standard is so obvious that it's sickening.

60 minutes and frontline cannot hold a candle to vice news. Appreciate the visceral style of this journalism.

Finally, someone’s talking about it because I’ve been saying how messed up this is

I feel terrible for these families, but I can't help and see that this has been happening to south american 'non-whites' for years but now we must care? Let the same rules apply to all. We are all human.

The Russian woman who got in didnt even make a reference to all of the poor folks still waiting to get in...the ones who had been there BEFORE she arrived. BUT the man who escaped the cartel for a better life has to deal with that degrading reality of watching people with lighter colored skin come right in while he waits & waits AND HE STILL mentioned he was glad for them.

I remember I brought up this exact issue when it came Europe the double standard refugees are facing and I was told neighbors help neighbors and that the African and middle eastern refugees won’t leave when it really boils down too it is not about that, it’s about the location of that the refugees are fleeing. I’m happy their finding safe refuge from the war and Putin but the world as whole needs to take a step back and evaluate what’s being done

Back when Eastern Europeans migrated to the US and were greeted by lady liberty. East Asian Immigrants were greeted at the west coast at Angel Island and had a tougher treatment

I'm an American-born Ukrainian from PDX, I just got back from volunteering at the Tijuana and San Diego border.
The kids hide and duck down when they see an airplane flying overhead. These people are traumatized. I’m against all war, God help us! Thank you and God bless the Mexicans for such hospitality and the People of the USA!

Similiar in Germany too. Ukrainians can come in freely without visa, can work and live where they want. Syrians and Afghans and other non-europeans/non-whites have way more restrictions.

With a smile this woman says it's the "luck". It's sad how when you have lighter skin your problem counts. She never once showed compassion for SO MANY OTHERS !!! And this is what the United States wants . 🥺

Disappointed but not surprised doesn't even begin to explain my feelings toward our boarder policies. Actually, my expectations are so non-existent that I don't think I can be disappointed anymore.
