I love you for doing a chuleta can can, Guga. I didn't expect this and my boricua heart is happy as hell. Much love from Puerto Rico!

Hi Guga!! Thank you for making this video for the world! As a puerto rican I’m happy that our traditional food is finally catching the eye of everyone. Although we puerto ricans don’t usually boil it first, we just season it and then deep fry it. But awesome video nonetheless!! 🙏🏻

When I was a kid, my friend's mom would make Tostones a lot with a garlic dip she used to crush in a pestle and mortar. I don't know what else was in the dip but, they were amazing with it.

4:10 the easiest way to skin a plantain is just to slice down one of the edges, and then peel the rest of the skin off. It can help cutting off the tips too.

Plantains are pretty starchy. You can also boil them for about 15 minutes, drain the water and mash them with milk and butter. I’ll add some coconut flakes, salt and curry powder and they’re a nice take on mashed potatoes.

Guga, can you make a video of your best sides?! Your mushrooms in heavy cream, and bacon, is a HUGE success in my household! I’d love to see what else to have 🥰

Come on Guga, you should make a dedicated chicharrón episode, showing how to make a PERFECT chicharron and try several variants, specially since Mexico, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica and Nicaragua all have their own "style" to make them (not to mention special dishes, like Chifrijo in Costa Rica, en Tacos in Mexico, Pupusas in El Salvador etc)

Much love and regards from a Swiss/Costa Rican living in Malta, always a fan!

Don't know why but I dreamt of Guga today, he was making mystery meat and it was dog meat, let me tell you, Maumau was not happy.

As a puertorrican who works on the food industry, we do to boil it. We just marinate it overnight and then deep fry it until it reaches the clients desired temperature. It gets more crispier and still remains juicy.

You should eat the tostones with a garlic and oil mix or with a type of special sauce. By their own they can be a little dry sometimes

Guga try dry aging a steak in cheese! Two things that are great dry aged by themselves, what would they be like together? Maybe use your sous vide queso blanco?

Great one, Guga. Lo único que te falta es el “adobo” y el mayoketchup (salsa rosita).

Un abrazo, Guga. Robert desde Yauco, PR.🇵🇷🇵🇷

It just occurred to me why I love this channel: enthusiastic, unpretentious love of great food with friends.

Just the way I like to eat.

Now...how about some duck sous vide?

Man, those tostones take me back. I was in Chicago years ago. I was sick as a dog (cold or flu). I stopped at a Puerto Rican restaurant and had a skirt steak and tostones that they served with garlic paste for dipping. I slept like a baby that night and woke up feeling great the next day. Thanks for the inspiration Guga!

Bro, when I looked at the thumbnail for this video and saw tostones, I had a big smile on my face. Tostones are AWESOME and I pretty much eat them with anything for dinner. The best is when we make carne asada, rice (arroz), queso frito, and tostones. This is probably my favorite dinner and tostones are a big part of it. The best thing is that at my local supermarket, the price of green plantains are super cheap since no one really gets them. You get so much for so little and you can do pretty much anything with them. Thank you Guga for covering this delicious side dish. Hope you can do more videos about it in the future.
