7 Day Honey Cured Steak

The taste on this one blew me away, it wasn’t too sweet and the honey on the exterior allowed the outside to really caramelize on the grill.

I highly recommend giving this a shot!

Fun fact kids, honey contains an enzyme that breaks down proteins to their basics which in turn makes meat more tender

Historically, honey was used for preserving meat and other perishables due to its ability to create an inhospitable environment for microbial growth. However, if you’re attempting this, make sure the meat is fully submerged in honey and stored in a clean, airtight container to avoid contamination.

Can do it much cheaper substituting pineapple juice instead of honey and its another great option for tenderizing.

I cooked a steak tonight with honey for the binder and only used salt & pepper for seasoning and cooked it in butter & garlic.
I will definitely recommend this recipe to anyone who hasn’t tried it yet!!
Next time I’ll try marinating it in honey which I wasn’t able to do because we didn’t have any and all the stores were closed but next time it’s definitely going to happen 😋

I been drooling since he mentioned the honey. Little cooking hint if you want a super tender steak, use either honey or pineapple juice

Marinating meat in honey is one of the best thing ever. Since i was a kid, honey pork has been one of my favourite dishes. And yeah, even Food Wars teaches you about Honey, having enzymes that break up the meat.

Wow! Never heard of honey curing before! Salt not necessary for me due to hypertension, pepper yes!

That amount honey would have costed more money than the meat....

Edit: it costs about 8 US dollars for 340grams of honey

I just had to take my price of honey at the store and exchange it to usd

And that's a lot of money for me, I could buy so many loafs of bread

I tried this and it was super good. I overcooked it (my first time cooking a t-bone), but it was still super tender from curing in the honey. Definitely going to try again and make sure that I cook it better.

Something to do with the enzymes in the honey break down the tough fibers of the muscle and make is super soft and moist. You can make cheep cuts taste amazing and fall apart with honey glaze ❤
