Replacing Lucy’s old gold head with a new platinum one

Diamonds don’t just magically fall out of rings. It mainly happens when the prongs that hold the diamond wear down over time and the tips break off. This is why it’s important to take a good hard look at the prongs on your ring every so often to make sure they’re still doing their job. Lucy was lucky she brought me her ring before it was too late. Thankfully I was able to save her diamond by replacing her heavily worn down head with a brand new platinum one. good deal on the plat head. that thing will hold the stone rock solid and last much longer.
Rechannel with platinum if you can. that 2-tone contrast looks awesome. I usually just grind a channel with a ball burr on the channel. use plat wire that fits and laser tack in place then solder with gold solder. cut a small channel in the plat and hammer over until it covers the old metal but secures it with the characteristics of plat
