A look at a shelter in place survival kit that every person should have regardless of where they live.

Every day items such as battery packs, first aid kits, water and food have been excluded. We are concentrating on the items required to get through a short incident, 72 hrs or so, due to a denial of service.

The items shown fit within a 37 litre storage box and can be placed under your bed, at the bottom of a wardrobe etc.

Nice kit, I have the same living on top of the fridge at home.

Other items I have around the house because we have the Grandkids living with us permanently, and for safety reasons are cheap PIR battery powered lights permanently in place (without batteries) in Bathroom/Toilet, Stairway, underneath kitchen wall cupboards, etc. ready to go when batteries are added. They were cheap at Wilkinsons (Wilko), but now they have gone they could probably be found at B&M's, etc. Also, Solar Garden lights have their uses in a power cut, use them during darkness and stick them out to recharge during the day.

I have subbed.

Thanks for the tips. I also have a small solar panel to recharge power banks, a gas heater and hot water bottles plus extra blankets.

Great video. I think an emergency bag is useful. One for sheltering in place in case of a disaster. The UK has a population of 70 million. On an island. Where can we go in a disaster? So sheltering in place will often be the only option.

Great tips. I also put in plastic sheeting (like plastic used for painting), along with painter's tape tape, if it is winter outside. You can use the sheeting to cover your windows or to close off a hall to save heat. I also have a couple of Mr Buddy heaters, with fuel.

I'd whack a pack of playing cards and maybe a couple of those travel games especially if you've got kids in there too. Nothing worse then trying to keep kids/ yourself amused with no power and no Internet.
