Quick note: This weekend we will be recording something as a tribute for Eddie Van Halen! RIP the legend! 😭🙌🏻🔥
Finally back to some ELO! Many of you said we had to go ahead and knock this one out before exploring further into them, we are most definitely not done, what’s the next track by them we gotta hit?!

Some of us loved ELO, because they sounded like the Beatles got back together...with Beethoven joining in.

John Lennon once said that ELO is what the Beatles would’ve sounded like if they didn’t break up.

Apparently voted as the the happiest song ever

Mr Blue Sky playing and everyone smiles - enough said

This song is the last part of a 4-song suite called Concerto for a Rainy Day. The closing part of Mr. Blue Sky includes a reprise of an earlier part of the suite. It really should be listened to as a whole.
(Edit: OMG, never had this many likes! Thanks so much!)

John Lennon stated very clearly that if you wanted more Beatles listen to ELO.
They're the best representation. He loved ELO.

It was songs like this that caused John Lennon to remark that if the Beatles had continued to record into the '70s, they would probably be turning out songs that sounded like ELO. So the resemblance to the Beatles is definitely a fair comparison.

Mr. Blue Sky is the last song in a 4 song set called "Concerto for a Rainy Day" that makes up all of side 3 on Out of the Blue. If you listen to the whole set, Mr. Blue Sky hits you even harder with it's exuberance and optimism.

God, I adore ELO. They’re one of my favorite bands now. Their music struck a chord with me when I got into them earlier this year but after I listened to the entirety of out of the blue I went out and bought the entire ELO collection on vinyl

ELO is underrated. "Turn To Stone", "Telephone Line", "Evil Woman", and so many others can be enjoyed any time anyone wishes.

Great choice, guys. If you revisit ELO, try:
Evil Woman, Living Thing, Roll Over Beethoven, Rockaria, or Strange Magic. And there are many others. ELO has a deep catalogue.

Jeff Lynne said he was on vacation in Switzerland and it had been raining for a week, He woke up and looked outside the next morning and it was clear blue skies. He grabbed his guitar.

That "bang, bang, bang on a metal pot" was actually a fire extinguisher that happened to be in the studio.

Saw them live in 1998 all us old people instantly lost 40 years.
Better than any face bloody lift.
I was 18 again within 5 minutes

Oh yeah, and Jeff Lynn and George Harrison we’re together in the Travelling Wilburys...amongst other greats!

ELO’s Jeff Lynne is a Beatle fanatic, and he produced their 1995 come back song free as a bird.He also sang part of the lead on while my guitar gently weeps when George Harrison was inducted into the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame

Fun fact: The voice at the end says "Please turn me over" in reference to the record, which you had to flip over! 😎✌

Once you learn the lyrics, this song is as much fun to sing along with as Bohemian Rhapsody.
