A job interview is not aced unless you were hired. Or passed to the next round. Simple.

I interviewed at the VA. After the 10 behavior interview questions, the gal told me straight up that she was not going to hire me. Legally, I needed an MLS certification. But she stated, I will show you around the laboratory if you want?

I ended up still not getting the job.

These are amazing pointers! Better than surface level interview stuff that other creators suggest. Pleasantries, getting along well and responding to questions perfectly isn't always enough. Someone could be far more qualified or come across even better in the interviews. The "tour" is a solid one! Almost like an orientation 😂

I was shown were I would be sitting had a meeting with everyone in the office. Was shown the building ect. and had a very nice lunch. They went with another candidate. So if this happens does not mean you will get the job.❤

Letting the hiring manager know you have job offers is not going to disqualify you. If anything, it can help them know they need to speed up the process if they are serious about you as a candidate. I have worked in recruiting and HR all my career. IDK if you've only worked in government, but this is not how the private sector works. We know it is very tough to recruit qualified candidates and things move quickly nowadays. If someone we are interested in is in late stage interviews or considering other offers, things can possibly be expedited and we'd like to know that to make it happen. Also, why would it be bad for someone on the interview team to be looking at your LinkedIn profile. That is a very standard practice. That is literally the point of LinkedIn, it's a professional profile to advertise your experience, expertise, and help you to craft a professional personal brand.

I did an interview for a BFM job with the Navy and the panel of interviewers didn't have a single follow-up question for me after I answered the 5 questions that were provided to me to review 15 minutes beforehand. I took this as either a really good sign or a really bad one lol. 2 weeks later they told me they were submitting my package to HR to review.

All these doesn't mean shit until you sign the offer letter.

I interviewed for a position before it closed so I think they liked my resume a lot. The interview was virtually done. One of the people doing the interview connected with me through LinkedIn. They scored my interview and haven't been told that I wasn't selected so I think I am at least one of the top candidates. Nervous because it would be life changing money for me.

References are an outdated practice. Most large, credible companies do not conduct references anymore as candidates are only going to list people that would say positive things about them and saying anything negative poses a liability. Many companies have policies against giving references for past employees. HR can generally only confirm title, dates of service, and eligibility for rehire.

Here is a simple way to know if they want you or not.

Tell them that other companies are interested in you, but you want to work for them.

Also say that another company wants to know if you accept their offer in the next 48 hours, so if this company wants you, they have to get back to you within the next two days, or you will take the other job

If they really want you, they will fast track your application, and you will go to the head of the line. They will contact you quickly with an offer to stop you going elsewhere. It is FOMO.

If they don't do this, you weren't getting the job.

This is so true the hiring manager was showing me photos of the offices it was still under construction, she discussed what is the dress attire and everything. Felt like she was trying to sell me on the company

I enjoy and watch all your content from start to end.
Question?
Which one is a better appointment type in the federal government ?
A competitive service (Permanent) or an excepted service (Recent Graduate), and why do you think so?
I have two job offers, all GS-9 but one is an excepted service appointment type and the other is a Competitive service.
I have never work as federal employee and I'm confuse which one is better to accept.

I know you mention contacting references after an interview, but what about if they contact them the morning of the interview, a few hours before? Hope this means it’s a good sign because this happened to me and I’m about to interview today!
