Have you ever wondered how you can get into IT without a degree? Check out this video where I go over a few things that you can do to better yourself when you're really pushing for that job you want.

Just because you don't have a degree doesn't mean you can't get a job in Information Technology. The path may be a little more difficult but it's definitely doable and I am living proof of that.

Do you have anything to add to this? Leave a comment below I would love to hear from you in regards to this.

People who think you need a bachelor's degree to get into IT don't know what they are talking about. In a field dominated by logical people nobody gives a shit about your fancy piece of paper because they are smart enough to realize how little it means. They just want you to be able to display competence which can be done by getting some basic certifications and showing them what your work looks like with a demonstration. I have gotten many jobs that I wasn't technically qualified for by knowing how to interview well. If you know what you are talking about people will give you a chance in smaller companies which translates to experience for getting into bigger companies.

Jesus. Did the sun explode outside your window?

Kidding aside, "education" doesn't have to mean a 2- or 4-year degree. Many community colleges and trade schools offer short-term certificates that can be completed in 1-2 semesters. Some also offer internships either within the school's I.T. department or with local businesses. This would be an easy way to obtain some verifiable experience.

I'm thinking of getting my A+, network + and security + certifications, what could an entry level salary look like with those certifications in your opinion? I have zero experience in the IT field currently a physical therapist assistant.

Although having a degree isn't required for IT, it is with my experience that a degree will serve you better. Higher salaries, more job security, and you you can move around a lot easier. People say you don't need a degree, but realistically a degree is almost now mandatory for IT. If you look a jobs in the IT sector, you will see that almost all of them want some kind of computer related bachelors degree to even be considered for an interview. Don't have a degree? You better have one hell of an IT background. Your competing against people who at least has college under their belt. I would not have been able to land my first job in IT had I not gone to college and did an internship. and at my company, I don't know too many programmers that don't have a degree. I know 1 guy but he's lime 62 years old and has been in IT since the 80s. I wasn't even born when he started in IT so he's an exception but he knows his shit.

I'm at a point where I'm very very confused. I have an associates in Networking or at least I will soon. Now I'm at a crossroads...
I don't know whether to get my bachelors like I originally planned, or change my major altogether.

Heres the thing. I worry so very much about getting a job because I have no experience. I'm scared there aren't gonna be any jobs. None for one such as myself. I'm considering getting out of this field and going into Business because there are so many things you can do with a degree in business and there are many more opportunities...

I don't know what to do right now...I'm so confused and fear I've made a bad choice.

I have the CCNA qualification but I live in an area where there doesn't seem to be anyone who wants this qualification.

Great topic, I'm struggling to get training at my work. My application to apply for MCSA has just been KB'd as not relevant for a network Administrator job, so gonna have to try just apply for MTA certs x\

Hello I'am currently looking into taking a course with a local professional school, that offer compTia A+, network+ and security+, with a bonus of cloud+ or Mta server administration. What I really want to ask is, Do you think that after all this I can land an entry level IT, keeping in mind the only experience I have is from fixing friends and families computers. Would appreciate the feedback thanks.
