Obito Uchiha is one of the most important characters in the series. Not because he is a hero, but because he is a villain. A young boy with hopes, dreams and a heart full of kindness and caring, he ultimately fell into the Uchiha’s curse of hatred, something that Madara Uchiha stated well. Hatred is born in order to protect love. And that phrase marks the downfall of Obito. His love for Rin, as well as his inability to be there for her, and his trust in Kakashi being betrayed by the latter’s hand… and I mean that literally… in her death gave Obito a bitter pill, a taste of that reality that Madara had awakened him to. While someone like Kakashi is living in light, Obito lives in darkness. While the villages win the wars, the shinobi lose their lives. That was the turning point for Obito. The point where he believed that life in this reality just wasn’t worth living. It would be better to retreat into the dream world Where Rin could still exist than to be in this world where only pain, suffering and futility existed. This led to the whole Akatsuki thing, as layer upon layer of hidden string was laid by generations of villains, both living and dead to facilitate their own ends. To a point, it’s almost ridiculous how many people are manipulated into manipulating someone else. It’s like watching a marionette control a marionette controlling a marionette. To a point, I wouldn’t have been surprised when watching the anime for the first time to discover that Kaguya was being controlled by the Otsutsuki god or whatever. But regardless, there is an important side to Obito here that we need to remember. He turned good at the end. Right there, at the hairy end, he decided it would be best to forsake his entire life’s goal up to that point just to preserve the world whose reality had so destroyed him; destroyed his body, his love, his life and his dreams. At that time, he joined Naruto and the others, taking some Tailed Beast Chakra from Madara and sending it to Naruto to help keep him alive. Obito would later, during the climactic fight with Kaguya Otsutsuki throw himself in the way of the All-Killing Ash Bones to save Naruto’s life. And it was this sacrifice that gave them all a chance to beat Kaguya. But, sometimes I sit and think “What would the Naruto world look like if Obito had survived this battle”. Some of you may say “Oh! He becomes the Hokage just like he dreamed!” Well, some of you who believe that may be surprised… and not in a pleasant way.

What if suggestions:

What if Kakashi got both of Obito's eyes at the kannabi bridge?
What if Naruto had the tenseigan?
What if Izuna (Madara's brother) survived?
What if Sasuke was born with the Rinnegan?
What if Indra became the sage of six paths?
What if Sasuke raised Naruto?
And lastly
What if Naruto was the one tail jinchuriki?

If Obito survived he'd have to spend the rest of his life in jail. There's just no way around it, he's killed way too many people.

Letting Sasuke off the hook was already very questionable, but Obito is 100x worse. Not only is he directly responsible for the war (where like 50, 000 people died I think), he's also directly responsible for the Nine Tails attack on Konoha and all those deaths (including Minato and Kushina), indirectly responsible for all the people Akatsuki killed (since he put Nagto up to it), and both directly/indirectly for the Uchiha Massacre (not only did he directly participate, but it probably wouldn't have happened if he hadn't framed the Uchiha Clan for the nine tails attack). Also whatever he did in the Mist Village with Yagura, where I'm sure he also killed a bunch of people.


It's nice that he had a change of heart at the end but he's just too prolific a mass murderer for him to ever be free again, that would be BS. I don't think Kakashi would be able to get away with pardoning him...nor should he.

Dude, this is the most comprehensive and in-depth What If Naruto video y'all have done so far... so many things were considered, even details as small as Rock Lee's career ending. Obito's character was depicted very well as well, keep it up!

During the timeskip, I think it would be interesting if that timelines Obito meeting the one we followed throughout the story because Obito they're Kamui's are linked to the same dimension. Urashiki would have to face against 2 Obito's and then both Obito's fight eachother maybe? Regardless I loved the story, excellent work as always!

Everything sorta kinda made sense up until the battle with urashiki.
It makes no sense to write a battle like that where Obito wouldn't use his perfect susanoo. He could've easily used it and beat urashiki without sacrificing his right eye. What a dumb and desperate way to nerf Obito to make him lose his ability to be intangible.
And writing the part where Obito takes urashiki's practically useless rinnegan makes no sense either. If Obito was in his 50s by this point, he should be on the verge of unlocking his own rinnegan. He's an Uchiha with the entire right side of his body made of hashirama senju's cells, plus he still has 6 paths chakra. So there's no fucking point of that entire part of the story.
The whole going back in time shit is pointless too, Obito isn't that much of a emotional twat to the point where he'd go out of his way to go back in time to kill his past self. The world already returned to peace, and he was already working towards making up for what he did to konoha, PLUS HE WAS FUCKING PARDONED BY HIS OWN FRIEND FOR FUCKS SAKE.
Horrible story, this absolutely no where near how kishimoto would actually right this scenario
