Giggled at the "not practicing, just jumping in" comment! Hence my first attempt at an afghan has edges that appear to have been inserted in a blender and the size would make a lovely muffler for the Jolly Green Giant! Great tips! thank you!

Practice really is a big key to getting into crochet. I caught Covid so I spent the whole time practicing and learning (I already loom knit so my yarn hoard was stocked). I spend most of the first week practicing chaning and making very long poopy scarf until I figured out the stitches and how to work with my hook. :) It made quarantine more bearable.

Great tips, thanks. I've also got slight uneven wavy edges on my jumper... I did count but must have messed up on the turning chain. Can you recommend how I can seam my two sides to create an even edge?

Hi M great info! My Mom gave me some free patterns to get started with. That was my biggest mistake not crocheting into my turning chain😂. I like to use a contrasting piece of yarn, or paperclip as a stitch marker. Pamela from Pamela's Cochet and Knit Corner, gives a hand stretch routine at the end of her video's.
