You failed to explain how each team is chosen to play each other. Useless.

The problem with this format is, after 6 matches, there will be teams that know they are fully secured into the next round (whether it be the round of 16 or the extra playoff round). Imagine the 12th placed team playing the 18th -- this becomes a meaningless match for both teams.

Big teams won’t try - only have to finish top 24 to qualify so all jeopardy is lost

Should be 2 legged tie all the way - knockout competition all the way to the final. Less games, classic format and then that way they get more rest. Not all about money, the top clubs just get richer and richer. Oh and while your at it financial fair play should be that you can spend as much as you like as long as it's already in the bank, not future sales, cash in the bank only.

This new format is a masterclass by real Madrid president, putting the ball in premier league's court... Now you have players unrest over work overload and excessive games putting pressure on efl league cup... Absolutely brilliant... Mr Perez getting others to support super league > UEFA persuading end of super league > more games in cl el ecl > exposing big pl clubs able to buy more players > small teams unhappy + players demanding lesser games & getting big team players on their side... fa pl in a spot & they'd probably exclude teams playing in euro comp from efl cup as an appeasement policy... They should follow a similar format one league one cup
