Ludicrous. European competitions were better before the changes when they were straight knockouts from the start.

I think the 9-24 playoff should just be 1 game, giving the teams from 9-16 more of an advantage

I want the old Champions League format again and their anthem but the new one and new format sucks

Icl this is a lot better than I initially thought it was going to be. Yes, we do have to wait for it to actually happen, but this will definitely make the group stages so much more interesting to watch, which is a good thing.

why don't they just make top 16 go straight to knockouts, knockout playoffs sounds so stupid

This makes it impossible for smaller teams to qualify for the round of 16, if they finish 9th or downwards they have to play a two legged match which they may not win compared to the group stage when you could fimish 2nd just by 1 point or even on goal difference because you have a smaller squad because the club isn't owned by country like PSG, Man City so doesn't have the depth to play extra games or two legged games. The big teams lile Bayern, Man City, PSG, Real, Barcelona and Liverpool will always finish in the top 8

Why is everyone saying that the new
format sucks and the old one is better? There will be a single table for all teams. There will be a struggle between all 36 teams, not 4, as it was in group stage. I wonder which position will every team achieve at the end of the stage. Also, there will be more top matches than in group stage.Agree, group stage was not so interesting. Usually, you could easily predict which team would advance to the knockout stage. But this format gives us more unpredictability. It will be interesting to watch the struggle between strongest teams for highest positions. Every goal, point has a great importance.

Now just for reaching R16, some team have to play 9 matches?? Ridiculous ..Think about amount of pressure players have to bear.. Fitness level and injury will be significant mark my word!!

This new format is a victory of bookmakers! They should keep the old format and create a mini stage group of four groups with four teams each group at the round of 16 ! In every group two would play vs the other two, so we would have four matches at this second group stage ! First group ( 1 vs2 ) second group( 3 vs 4) third group ( 5 vs 6) and fourth group ( 7 vs 8) Also instead of conference league There should be Europa league a and b with 32 teams each of them! Then would continue with one play off single round, the single round of 32 and from the round of 16 two matches

I think it's good thing...they eliminate teams from 24-36...not overpowered team in Europe and conference leagues

I'd like 9th vs 24th, 10th vs 23rd, etc...like seeding in the NBA

I think this will actually make the “group stage” more interesting, as in the old format teams could be eliminated basically from the draw (like Slavia Prague in 2019)
