Can't wait for the inevitable "I Played Every Game Ever"

2:13 TES:Arena was the first game to feature environmental lighting from mobile objects (the fireball in this case). All other games prior had lights in static positions. One of the first things everyone who bought Arena did was fire off a projectile spell at night and watch how it lit up the environment as it flew.

The first Elders Scrolls tried one of the first "Motion Controls" attacks by moving the whole mouse in any direction... That's so cool!

Playing Morrowind for the first time: “why the fuck am I walking so slow?” “Where the fuck am I going” “Why can’t I actually hit anything?” “Why does everything kill me?” “Fuck Cliff Racers”

5:45 A common misconception about stealth in this game is that it's not enough to crouch down to automatically enter stealth mode, as in modern games. In Daggerfall, stealth is a separate mode, and if you don't turn it on, any theft will be considered undisguised robbery, just squatting.

I kind of can't believe that you actually played the first two games and gave them a fair shake. Usually YouTube videos like this either breeze past them calling them dated garbage or pretend like they never existed and this is a really refreshing change of pace considering that Daggerfall is my favorite Elder Scrolls game

Jeremy Soule is the one that has composed every single elder scrolls track since Morrowind. I don't think any other composer could do it justice.

Morrowind was so dark and ethereal. And enemies didnt level with you. If you ventured too far out and stumbled into the wrong place, you'd get lit up.
Also there was way more options for everything. Spears, crossbows, ninja stars, tower shields, pauldrons that you could mismatch.
Man it was amazing.

Word of advice to everyone, DO NOT DO WHAT IS DEPICTED AT 10:03
Because 1. Power attacks are significantly more stamina efficient in morrowind, so you should not be "spamming" attacks.
And 2. NEVER USE THE IRON DAGGER! Just ignore it, it's a trap. You in all likelihood did not make a character with short blades in mind so you WILL miss. And if you did, USE ANY OTHER DAGGER! HECK, YOU PROBOBLY HAVE SOME OTHER WEAPON CHOSSEN LIKE LONG SWORD, JUST USE ONE OF THE ENCHANTED WEAPONS THAT ARE JUST LYING AROUND NEAR THE STARTING AREA. OR DO WHAT EVERYONE ELSE DOES AND JUST BUY ONE.

Ok slight correction, in Morrowind you can wear what ever armour you want regardless of your class, in fact Morrowind has a much more in depth armour system than Oblivion’s. I thought it went without saying that I know about the beast races not being able to wear certain boots or helmets but this comment kind of blew up.

I've only played Skyrim, but Morrowind looks enticing too. For me Skyrim is like "home". You never really abandon it, it's always there in the back of your mind.

My favorite thing from oblivion besides spell making was the enchanting. I miss putting 20% chameleon on 5 pieces of armor for 100% invisibility all the time

Playing Morrowind for the first time and when it just ‘clicks’ and then you get addicted in the games mechanics, lore, and magical world is one of the best feelings I’ve had in gaming

7:35 "Just steal everything in sight". That's actually a major point and one of the reasons why this game is so special. This is the first (or one of the first) games ever where most of the objects in the environment were interactable. It's adds to the immersion in a huge way. My earliest memory from Morrowind is walking into a store and seeing items sold by the shop actually placed on the shelves. I remember being totally mind blown by that back in the day.

The feelings you had about oblivion being your first are the exact same I had with morrowind. I played it on Xbox and it blew me and my friends minds. We would steal from Shopkeepers, plunder random dungeons, talk to every random npc, and create insane spells. I remember creating a spell that made me FLY!. It was special.

The Music for Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim were all done by the same composer. The amazing Jeremy Soule. I'm not 100% sure but I saw a video that said that they did NOT get Jeremy Soule for Elder Scrolls 6. That's very upsetting because his style of music has become a crucial part of what The Elder Scrolls is. I hope whoever does 6 can be even half as good as Jeremy Soule.

Having played daggerfall unity so much, I genuinely think the games size and general fantasy life simulator vibe lends itself to potentially being a good multiplayer game. It's really got enough space for an entire MMO worth of people milling about. If the modding scene pops off some more I could see something similar to Skyrim together or Morrowind multiplayer being a reality

While the elder scrolls games are great in their own right, it's the unparalleled mod support that really sets them apart in the industry. 10 years later Skyrim is still thriving like it was released just a few months ago, and a big part of that is due to the ridiculously active modding community. Some of the ongoing modding projects are absolutely huge, involving hundreds of developers. Many of these teams could probably just make a game of their own (and some of them did).

I love every game in this series. Every. Single. One. No matter how many other RPGs or games I play in general, I will always hold the Elder Scrolls games closest to my heart <3
