If you loved the factions in Skyrim then play The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion! Oblivion's guilds are known for being incredibly satisfying to play! For the Fighters and Mages Guilds, simply walk into any of the local halls and ask to join. For the Dark Brotherhood, simply play as a murderer and they’ll find you. For the Thieves Guild, read one of the wanted posters in the Imperial City and ask around about the Gray Fox. Get on a beggars good side if you can! There's even an arena you can join in the Imperial city and all factions have ranks to show you exactly where you stand!

I loved the parchment UI in Oblivion and I loved how you could see your faction and rank. That was so cool and I never understood why they took it out from Skyrim

Oblivion’s factions were, and are, the biggest loss in Skyrim. So much obviously wasted opportunity. If it hadn’t been for Oblivion’s factions and how engaging and integrated they were to so much of the game I probably never would have made it to Skyrim. It is also why I love the mod that adds the Dragonborn museum and it’s guild. I’d love to have more mods like that.

Just started playing oblivion again after years yesterday

Any of my worries about it feeling dated or janky went out the window once I got to take in the world after leaving the sewers again for the first time. If anything, the jank just adds charm and doesn’t disrupt real gameplay. Possibly the best ES game to date.

The only down side (And someone at Bethesda did point this out before the launch of Skyrim) is that you can become head of all the guilds at once.
