You all tagged me a lot on this star wars theory regarding moff gideon being a clone in the mandalorian season 3. Let's go over the theory online and I'll give you my full thoughts and theory as to how this could be true...but also how it couldn't be...
You decide...
Is Moff Gideon still out there in Star Wars, alive?
Or was this a Clone that we saw in the season finale?

It would’ve been cool to get an end credits scene where we get to see the shadow council discuss the end of moff and maybe we’d see thrawn step into the hologram

The fan base thought the horns on his helmet meant he was Death Watch, connected to Darth Maul and the Armorer… but no, they were just horns. In the same way, he just shaved his mustache.

He was trying to clone Gus Fring and create clones of him, not prolong Gideon’s life.

Giancarlo is one of those actors I don't get tired of watching. If he comes back I would not be too surprised. Just make it make sense enough for us to understand his return.

If i were a Mandalorian, after all the smoke cleared that would have been the first questions I'd asked. Was this a clone, and was this the only cloning facility? Knowing how intelligent Gideon is, it would be smart of him to have multiple facilities and possibly multiple clones of himself around. Stargate SG1 covered this quite well with the Ba'al storylines and in Atlantis with the Michael arc.

I love how Gideon had a self destruct option for his beloved clones with ZERO security password or encryption lol

It felt too weird that Gideon would let all those clones die that easily. They definitely left the real one alive out there somewhere…

I have a theory. Pershing got captured before he could figure out the Moustache. The Moff was like well i got force powers so i can live without the staches.

It seems very reasonable that he is not dead. What would be a really cool arc is that he has tried to add the force to himself and it works..at first and then begins to destroy him.

The only reason why I kind-of want the 'real Gideon' to show up in season 4 is for another genius and unstoppable villain in Giancarlo Espositio's archive

I think we all have to accept that Star Wars isn't as deep as what we want it to be. Most likely here Giancarlo Esposito didn't want to grow a moustache for a few minutes in a tv show 😅

Even if the clones were force sensitive, they would need to be trained to use the force to their potential, if at all. Wouldn’t they?

Thanks for all the videos! Moff Gideon is absolutely alive for a clear storytelling reason, he admitted to his plan in S3:E7. Just after Din Djarin was captured, Moff Gideon said, "Mandalore will live on in me. Thanks to your planet's rich resources, I have created the next generation dark trooper suit forged from beskar alloy. And the most impressive improvement is that it has me in it. You see, every society has something to offer: the cloners, the Jedi, and even the Mandolorians. By aggregating the best of each, I will create an army that will bring order to the galaxy." We see the beskar alloy suits blocking blaster fire. We hear from Moff Gideon that he plans to make force sensitive clones (i.e., the contribution of the Jedi). What caught me off guard was the way he said "the most impressive improvement is that it has me in it." I don't think he was talking about his suit, I think he meant every new dark trooper was one of his clones! The reason he let Din Djarin into the clone room was because he had dozens if not hundreds of other clones in other locations. We don't see the dark troopers lose their helmets, but I suspect we'd see Moff Gideon in each one. Besides his ego and belief in his own physical abilities, it's because he thinks a clone of himself would be most trustworthy to carry out his will. I'm think maybe the unrevealed "spies" referred to in the title could be the Moff Gideon clone installation placed on Mandalore in case the Mandalorians ever tried to retake the planet. In that case, it was revealed and would suggest a possible larger plot thread going forward with Moff Gideon trying to create his own army in opposition to the absent Thrawn in order to overtake the Shadow Council. Mandalore would also be a "safe" place to hide a research station to work on perfecting the new clones since most of the galaxy thought it was poisoned. Additionally, this clone Moff Gideon could absolutely still be mad about ALL the clones the Mandalorians have been killing in the episode. Those were his "brothers."

It would be lame if this turned out to be a fakeout death, but I really like Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon, so it's a double-edged sword for me if he comes back

Unfortunately, I think that the real reason he didn't have a mustache is because they simply didn't think about it at the time.

The fact he knows where they are and then gets so angry about Din destroying his clones was really what bothered me most about this episode aswell

The fact that Joruus C'Baoth is himself a clone of a Jedi, but is now a Dark Side user, pretty much sets up this sort of concept of injecting clones with specific Force leaning. As for Moff Gideon, I feel like it may be the reason there was no credits scene--it was to slowly reveal he's still around, instead of making him the big news of Season 4. I like the idea of the real one now being the prisoner of Thrawn, to attone for his insolence.

I feel that Thrawn is being saved for Ahsoka. But I really do feel that Gideon may still be alive. He was in full armor when that explosion took over him (beskar alloy and I feel it may be safe to assume it’s flame resistant from how Din took on flamethrowers up close) and we didn’t see a body. Any time you don’t see a body is a clear sign there’s gonna be a return. If he is dead, it does seem plausible that he would have a clone(s) stored somewhere else from how easily Din just sabotaged them.

I think this episode would have benefited so much from just 10 minutes more screen time. It felt like a race and if you blinked you missed a huge event. A lot of people complained that Andor was too slow which is true, but Andor was able to have a good story by taking its time; EVEN IF IT TOOK TOO MUCH
