I was always taught lined-level-plumb and square. I am wanting a tattoo to represent my passion for carpentry and craftsmanship. The more research I do I am finding that those who taught me, called “lined” or “in-line” as opposed to what is better known as “true”. I’m assuming they are two different words for the same golden rule, symmetry. This corner of the room can be level plumb and square with itself, and the other corner of the room can also be level plumb and square with itself. But to be all of those things together as one. That’s where the “lined” comes in, or what I am now discovering most carpenters know as “true”? Is this the case? To each his own? Mud sill sole sill tomatoe tomaahhhtooww? I’m considering going with true as opposed to lined as that seems to be the general consensus and I was simply taught it in the same meaning by a diffenet word? Someone please clarify before I get inked permanently!!!
