He is not talking about Hungary as strong country, but a strong political example for the republican party how to solve some problems, as illegal migration or banning the gender cult in schools. Orbán offered new political solutions to these problems what others countries were afraid to even talk about.

To all Americans in awe of Orbán's regime: this street-fighter-turned-leader runs a country where the economy is sustained primarily by EU funds. So far, we’ve received more than double what West Germany received under the Marshall Plan to rebuild the entire country, yet Hungary ranks last in the EU by GDP per capita. With a VAT rate of 27% and an average yearly wage of around $20, 000, combined with record inflation, it’s clear that the economic rationale behind his conservative policies is bogus. It’s the opposite of a meritocracy (the foundation of the American Dream), as Hungary’s wealthiest individuals are his close friends and family, while the rest of the population is impoverished.

Orbán’s current slogan—"No War, No Gender (which is nonsensical, but I digress), No Migration".
Let’s not even get into the fact that Orbán has casually sided with the Russians. This is especially ironic since he came to power because Hungarians were fed up with Soviet occupation. The war in Ukraine won’t end just because we "want peace." Everybody wants peace. But Orbán is in hot water because Russian intelligence infiltrated Hungary's national security system (a breach of the highest level) just days before the invasion of Ukraine. At the time, he dismissed it as fake news, but it has since been proven, and it is compromising Hungary’s position in NATO. This is what the previous generation worked for and dreamed of—Hungary being part of the West, not the Eastern Bloc. Back then, Orbán supported this vision.

The concept of gender was unfamiliar to most Hungarians before his propaganda made it a hot topic. State news channels constantly push this new buzzword, and many people still don’t understand it, instead using it the way the ruling party intended: as a slur against “woke” liberalism.

As for immigration, 95% of Hungary's population is white, and the remaining 5% are mostly Roma. Immigration is not our issue—our problem is the brain drain, with young talent leaving the country. There's a joke that London is Hungary’s second-largest city because more expats live there than in any city except Budapest. Ironically, Orbán brought in 120, 000 "guest workers" from Asia and the Middle East to help build a battery factory on confiscated agricultural land, strong-arming farmers out of their property. This factory will not only poison the land but also deplete scarce water reserves in an already drought-prone region.

Orbán claims to protect family values and traditions. His so-called child protection laws sparked massive outrage this year when it emerged that a well-known child m-l-ster, tied to the Fidesz system, wasn’t imprisoned but instead awarded an honorary medal by the president (who, under the current system, is essentially Orbán’s wingman). These “child protection” policies are little more than anti-liberal fluff—a communications war with no real substance. One of the most notable policies is that bookstores can’t sell books with LGBTQ content near schools or churches, and those books must be wrapped in plastic (hardly a game-changing law). Meanwhile, children in orphanages across the country live in squalor, surviving on food donations. This isn’t real child protection, it does nothing to improve their quality of life—it’s posturing as a so-called freedom fighter.

Yes, Budapest is beautiful, especially the Castle District, but that has nothing to do with Orbán’s government. It’s a gift from previous generations—a part of our architectural heritage. What his administration is building now is a historically inaccurate slab of concrete that threatens the integrity of the entire district. It’s being constructed on a hill filled with natural and manmade tunnels, and experts have warned against it. Meanwhile, many historical buildings across the country are left to crumble, their restoration funds funneled elsewhere. Orbán isn’t a man of class or taste—his obsession with building football stadiums is proof of that.

The kind of people you want to associate with in Hungary don’t vote for Fidesz. Even hardcore conservatives abstain unless they have a financial stake in the corruption. Orbán’s main voter base consists of the uneducated, the elderly, and the impoverished. Knowing this all too well, he is actively degrading the education and healthcare systems, leaving more people vulnerable so he can continue his reign as king in a feudal system, with his cronies—the vassals—above the law while the rest struggle to survive. His only hope for maintaining power lies in the absence of independent capital and a non-existent middle class. When people are fighting just to get by, they don’t have the luxury of caring about politics.

But the winds are changing, and hopefully, this “peace toad” (béke béka) will be gone by the next election.
