U.S. envoy on North Korea calls on Pyongyang to build on recent charm offensive

The U.S. envoy on North Korea has called on Pyongyang to take more

meaningful steps toward peaceful reconciliation.
Talking to reporters in Beijing on Sunday, U.S. Special Representative for

North Korea Policy Glyn Davies said that the most important task for

Pyongyang is to go beyond its recent charm offensive, which includes a

proposal for reunions for families separated since the Korean War.
Davies said he can't pinpoint the reasons for the North's recent actions,

but said this is not the first time Pyongyang has shown interest in

reconciliation.
Davies will meet with his Chinese counterpart Wu Dawei and other high-

ranking officials in Beijing until Tuesday before heading to Seoul and then

to Tokyo.
