U.S. envoy for N. Korea holds rare talks with Chinese counterpart over recent provocations

U.S. Special Representative for North Korea Sung Kim held talks with his Chinese counterpart Liu Xiaoming on Wednesday to discuss North Korea's increasingly provocative behavior.
According to the U.S. State Department on Thursday, in the virtual meeting, Kim expressed concern about the unprecedented number of ballistic missile launches carried out by the North this year, including eight intercontinental ballistic missiles.
The rare meeting between the diplomats comes about two weeks after Beijing, together with Moscow, blocked a U.S.-led effort to have the United Nations Security Council condemn North Korea's missile provocations.
