Walmart 'Mountain Bike' vs Beginner MTB 'er - Who Will Survive?

Показать описание
We have seen more than a few Walmart bike abuse videos, but never from the perspective of a first time rider.

Follow me and come ride with me on the road trip!

Today, I brought two friends out for their first ever mountain bike, one of whom ended up on a Walmart "mountain bike" (if you can call it that). Just when my friend Kevin though he was done with the issues of his old bike, he realized that his money had been completely squandered on the Walmart bike that did not last even one day's ride.

Whether it was due to poor assembly, cheap parts, or just bad luck, this bike was unsafe to ride and was brought back to where it belonged.

To anyone watching this and considering starting with a Walmart MTB, please take a note and just keep saving until you can get an entry level bike from your local bike shop!

All that Specialized needs is a chain, some new cables, and a half assed tuneup! Hell yes for getting out on the trails again, and more kudos for getting your money back on that BSO. Used bikes are almost always a better buy.

Wiggly bars seems to be a common trend for Walmart bikes :D

BTW your editing and story was on point!!

i think the one of the most terrifying things is that walmart will most likely put that bike right back on the shelf.

Awesome vid.
Sadly should have told him his new Walmart bike is the same price as your handlebars. Hahaha

1988: My freshman year of college, I spent most of my grocery budget on a new GT Outpost. $329. Oh, yeah...

1st trail ride, the non-drive crank arm fell off. 2nd ride, same thing. Crank arm replaced. Third ride, drive side crank arm. 4th ride, nothing broke! 5th ride, I bent the fork. Then someone stole it. Sucker!

A few weeks ago I brought 3 of my friends mountain biking for the first time. They all had a blast and ever since then they all have been begging me to go riding over and over again! They are hooked on the sport! It's so much fun watching them progress and it's good to know that your introducing more people into the sport!

I feel your pain guys! My first MTB trip was also on a Walmart bike. I quickly learned the hard way that I needed a better bike. I went from a Mongoose Ledge 2.5 to a Diamondback Release 3. Quite the step up but I can definitely grow into that.

Ah, dude, my first time riding OTB was spectacular. NOT ONLY did I go OTB, but I ran headlong into a tree that I 100% saw coming from a mile away and did not a single thing about

I've been waiting for this day for a while! It's great to see you back on the bike. I love watching Bryan and all the rest of them, but you really do seem like you have more fun.

Great video, fun to watch the different beginner bikes and see how they stood up to the trails. Glad you're back in the saddle, looking forward to your videos!

First time riding a proper trail centre, second to last turn before the carpark and I slid out on the high side of a berm, landed at the base of the berm with my feet and wheels point skywards. Hooked.

LOVED IT!! Great to see you back out there, and the idea of chronicling two first timers was a GREAT idea. It hits on the essence of what all of our objectives should be...get people out on the trails! I was DYING at your stat lines on each rider, complete with estimated survival percentages. HILARIOUS! Great piece of editing on that. Looking forward to your videos this summer....shred on sir!

1st mtb ride in FL summer, made wrong turn, 5 miles of sugar sand, nearly had a heat stroke. MTB was $50 Pawn shop 🚲. Good 4 🍺 runs & getting trail riding. 2nd bike $500 (1998), good for 10yrs, few problems, lots of memories & sold for $100. New bike, less expensive than mental therapy ☺ & will probably oulast me. Lessons learned

I love watching Wal-Mart bikes get punished. Every time someone says I paid too much for my bikes I think about you, Phil and Seth beating the fuck out of them past what they can handle. A Walbike truly has nothing on your buddy Wade's 8 year old rim break Specialized. Glad to see everyone had fun and was safe.
