If he would've met Ramsay they would've become best buddies

Gregor being knighted is exactly why Sandor never became a knight. If his immoral psychopath of a brother could become a knight he wanted no part of it. Gotta respect the Hound for that.

He also had a massive milk of the poppy addiction

Death of Gregor’s father and sister makes all the more sense for why the Hound wanted to kill him all his life. It always felt like there wasn’t just the vicious forcing him into fire and trying to torture him that was the reason.

He had a bit more collateral than your average commander, but Tywin gave him immunity, so its alright

It's not confirmed, but Clegane probably suffers from Arcomegaly, making most of his waking moments pretty unbearable even at the best of times (one of the symptoms is constant headache and joint pain) which he tries to allevieate with taking ASOIAF version of morphine mixed with alcohol. It apparently isn't always succesful.

The mountain himself acted as the main enforcer for Tywin himself which caused House Lannister to be feared throughout the kingdom. While Tywin's father may be the one that had elevate the Cleganes to a House level Tywin was the one that ignored all the atrocities that Gregor has done as long as he is still loyal to him.

Rhaegar knighting Gregor is one of those facts you know has some insane story behind it. Because there really isn't two more different people in the series than Rhaegar and Gregor. We know little about both, but from what we do know, Rhaegar would not have liked Gregor.

My personal head canon is that Rhaegar was trying to get favor from lords and knighted people to achieve this. Tywin loved to use Gregor for his war crimes, and Tywin was the one to order Elia, and her kids brutalized during the sack.

This leads me to think Rhaegar knighted someone Tywin liked as he planned to overthrow his father, but Tywin obviously despised Rhaegar by that point (Aerys married him to Elia and not Cercei... Tywin is really petty and emotional) so this ended up allowing Gregor to use his title of knight under Tywin to side step punishment for commiting the acts he did.

And we see Tywin and Robert excusing Gregor's actions in the series proper.

Gregor is much like the mythological hercules. I wonder if thats where the series creator got his inspiration for him.

If he accidentally murdered one of Starks, Arya would've ended him pretty badly. Man is freaking strong, yes, but a man nonetheless.

I like the G.R.R.M also shows the other side of knighthood. How some knights behave and how little knighthood meant for them. You have knights of the Vale on one side as example and have Mountain on the other.

How could have Rhaegar knighted someone like that?
