As fascinated as I am by the material the series covers, Gary is such an unlikable person I can't even finish the series. When he published the book, and hung all of his mom's dirty laundry out to dry IN PUBLIC, then when she didnt approve, he cried like a baby and said "It was like she abandoned me all over again"... I turned it off immediately... What an absolute pity artist, attention seeking, manipulator. Disgusting.

Ugh, I'm only 15 minutes in but I already hate Gary. He's so selfish and pity loving.
Can't just be grateful that he got adopted by wonderful, loving people. He's just determined to ruin everyone's lives.

The book remains my most treasured possession. I have read it eight times. Earl Van Best, Jr is the Zodiac Killer. I am a student of psychopathy. Please read the book before making any judgements. Gary - so proud to have your story out in the world.

His bio mom lied in the very 1st sentence that she didn't even remember the man's name so i didn't trust anything out of her mouth. Both did Gary a favor by dropping him off so he didn't smother in a chest.

UPDATE: I have now watched this documentary and was quite taken back at the last show where the co-author made statements that at some point she failed because she was no longer trying to disprove theories. In those statements, she says she felt Gary was pushing to prove his theories and may have 'stretched the truth' (being kind here) on some issues. Having met Gary and the appearance of his sincerity, this was disappointing at best. Now, I am no longer sure either way but find no reason to be cruel toward him because I do believe his original goal was to simply find his birth parents and piece together his story. No one wins in the end because so many lives were destroyed in many ways through this story.

I have read the book and met Gary personally. He truly was seeking the identity of his Father because his story of being left on the doorstep brought many questions as to who his parents might be. So, unlike some naysayers, this really is the story of a man seeking his origin and finding himself in a fascinating string of stories that led him to truly believe this might be his father. It is an intriguing search with enough challenges being thrown at him that makes you wonder if this might be his parent.

Its a interesting series and worth the watch. I think its more of a story of what happens when you go way down the Rabbit hole and end up wanting to believe things so very much that you will make yourself hold on to and make connections that are not as they seem. I dont think Garry is the son of the Zodiac but he believes it because he so badly wanted a connection to a father he never knew.

This guys story has been debunked. The handwriting that “matched” the zodiac was from a marriage certificate that was filled out by the priest. The cipher where he supposedly finds his dads name is a stretch to say the least. Also the zodiac was described by multiple eye witnesses as being 200-230 lbs, best was tiny. And if his fathers dna matched the zodiacs it would be the biggest story in the last 70 years as far as serial killers are concerned. I’ll watch the show just bc I’m obsessed with the zodiac, but it’s 1 million percent not earl van best jr

Here's a man who guaranteed didn't have the best birth parents. Abandoned by his father. Although he was adopted by a very good family. They loved him, took very good care of him. The only way he would have known about what happened to him as a baby....most likely came from a family member. The way he acts....like he personally remembers this happening. I find this highly doubtful. Not at that age. I don't see why he acts so mistreated. He wasn't brought up like that, by his own admission. Pretty pathetic that he wants his father to be a serial killer. What for, why??? He need attention that badly???? Get a grip. There's people out there who have had it a million times worse than you.
