You're going to laugh but I finally put two and two together.
you always hear that "A" sound in the orchestra pit when the orchestra is tuning up.
Now I can recall the "A" sound from my memory.
One of the best parts about learning is when you recall something from your past and it fits in with the here-and-now.

That is fine, but I tune with a StroboClip HD tuner from Peterson Tuners.

It is digitally perfect and the 92-segment strobe scale display gives you continuous feedback about frequency rather than steps that only tell you that you are within a certain distance of being correct like quite a few other tuners do.

A word of warning. It's recommended that you have mechanical pegs because it is so precise and accurate, you need mechanical pegs to take full advantage of exactness in tuning. Ordinary pegs are very hard for anyone to make absolutely perfect adjustments.

You can tune within a fraction of a cent which is more accurate than almost anyone can tune with human hearing.

Why do this? Because if you consistently tune this way, over time your intonation will improve greatly. Not only that, but your fingers will learn better consistency because with a perfectly tuned instrument they will always need to be in the same position to be in tune, and eventually they will learn exactly where those positions are.

What is more, your hearing will become more refined and as time goes on you will notice when other people tune their instruments, they are almost always a bit off.

Another advantage is that if a group of instruments is tuned this way you will immediately notice improved harmony results in ensemble playing.

I play the cello and use harmonics to tune. I’ve never heard of that way of of tunings that’s interesting. I guess the more you know🎻

Ahah i tried tuning my violin I am renting because I just got it and was trying to figure it out and ended up breaking a string and now I have a heavily out of tune violin and I am too scared to tell anyone

I have been playing the violin for a couple of years now, and I am still struggling with tuning. I can hear the difference if A is for example too low comparing to an other A but I am not sure if I can hear a smaller difference.
